Guest guest
Dear Marcia, I followed the lowfat, 1000 calorie diet for about 5 days before surgery and then the day before the surgery I followed it as usual through lunch. At 3:00 p.m., the day before surgery, I drank the bottle of Fleet's Phospho Soda (soooo salty, yuk) and for the rest of the evening (between bathroom trips) I had a light soup (chicken noodle with fat free broth). My mouth felt so " salty " and I just drank so much water that night I could have floated. Make sure you drink alot of water and/or clear liquids after the Fleets. On surgery day, I woke up with a very dry and salty feeling mouth and I had to rinse with alot of ice cold water to make myself feel better. I couldn't drink in the a.m. since my surgery was first thing. To my surprise, I was not subjected to a presurgical enema which I was stressing about. Hope this helps. Good luck. Guest guest
Thanks, Jane. It's ironic, but since I scheduled the surgery, I've lost about 15 lbs. Nerves, I guess. I've lost a lot of my cravings and am just not eating as much as I used to. I guess I'm psychologically getting ready for a new way of living. It's funny, but the one thing I'm really worried about is my dh's weight increasing due to what I call " Mother of young children syndrome: " in other words, I can't finish what's on my plate, so Marty DOES! It's already started. Looks like he's going to have to increase his time at the " Y! " I'll be in the City on Tuesday for pre-admission testing, then it's downhill to the 26th. Scared and thrilled at the same time. Guess we all go through those same feelings, huh? Take care, we'll be staying in touch.
