Guest guest
Just finished watching Friday's episode of ABC's~The View. Star interviewed a women, Darlene Terrill, who suddenly gained weight in 1993 after an injury. Her husband was ashamed of her size (220lbs, no height given) and she chose (without any research) to do a stomach stapleing, gastic bypass as it was called on the show. It was explained that she had a band or staple put around the upper portion of her stomach making a small pouch and a narrow passage into the remaining portion of her stomach. (I took notes during the show.) She vomited for 3 years and says her doctor told her this was normal. In 1996, she had a second surgery where they found her stomach had deteriorated from all the vomiting and she had an emergency spleenectomy and had her entire stomach removed. She was now hooked up from her esophagus to her large intestine and can hardly eat. She is now under the care of a Dr. Kesterson. No surgical doctor was mentioned or state. The woman is in such bad health that they are now sure how long she will live. I found the entire segment so unfair although they did say many people have the procedure and are fine. Guest guest
I too watched The View. And kinda sat and listened to the story, and thought there are so many things left out. And, not meaning to be mean here...if someone has been sick and basicly not eating for 3 years, you'd be very, very thin and weak. She was neither. From her starting weight of 220....what do you think, maybe 40lbs less now? How is that possible if that story is true? I'm am sure Star has recieved tons of feedback on this show. But I am still wondering the " real " story. Cindy > > Just finished watching Friday's episode of ABC's~The View.
