Guest guest
AJ, I'm sorry you are going through such a horrible time. Which insurance company are you with? Is there a chance that you can change companies through your employer? I wish you the best of luck, and Keep going for it!!! If you want it bad enough, it will happen for you, maybe not in the immediate future, but it will happen! Kim B. Guest guest
AJ, I'm sorry about your denial! I know exactly how you feel, Aetna denied my original papers Dr. Rabkin submitted and then my appeal letter. I contacted Walter Lindstrom and he has submitted another appeal letter on my behalf. Now I'm waiting again to hear the outcome. I started this journey last September and I'm so tired of waiting and waiting only to be turned down each time. They approved me for the R-N-Y but I want the DS. I'm hoping Walter can perform a miracle for me. I don't know how many times you have been denied but maybe you should contact Walter and ask him if there is anything he can do for you. (walter@...) Good luck! Michele H. If you want it bad enough, it will happen for you, maybe not in the immediate future, but it will happen! Thanks Kim...I have Regence of WA. There is no other insurance in this area that will cover it. Wa. is the worst because we had a period that anyone could enroll with no waiting periods. Now w'e're paying. I'm so beyond depressed tonight. I layed in bed and cryed for a couple hours. They will pay for an axorexic to get inpatient care but not a fat person. They will repeatedly put a drug addict in rehab but not cover a surgery that will be successful. I totally feel worthless tonight. I do not want to keep going if I have to do it at 400 lbs. If I had a way to obtain the money I would...I dont mind paying for the surgery...but I have to have it before things are so bad I can't get my normal life back. ~~* AJ *~~ BMI 59 INSURANCE: NW Washington Medical (Regence ) DR Heap, Richland WA Denied due to exclusion, submited appeal 6/7/01 Bellingham Support for WLS WWW.lookin2bthin.homestead.com
Guest guest
I was told that I'm again denied...and her exact words while defending the exclusion after I pointed out that they will pay unlimited drug rehab visits and lung cancer treatment for smokers etc was that " this isn't how they choose to spend their money " . Talk about making me feel like a nothing. I've been at work crying for the past 1/2 hour...I can understand some of the concerns on cost but even their website says I have no chance to do this without surgery...so talk about unfair. Guest guest
AJ, I'm so sorry to hear this awful news. I really despise the way our insurance companies have a hold over our lives like they do. I hope you can find a way to follow your dreams. Praying that you'll have the strength and will to carry on and that you will find a way. ===== from Upper Darby, PA BMI 63, age 41 Lap BPD/DS (possibly in 2 parts) Dr. Gagner - 9/15/01 __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Dear AJ, OH that infuriates me! I am really sorry to read that your insurance has denied you again! Guest guest
AJ, I'm really sorry for what you're going through. If there's anything I can do, please let me know! I was looking through the database, and seen that on the first page, someone named Cheryl C. also had Regence of WA... not sure if it's the same, she had her surgery date posted as last year. But maybe you could contact her, and she could help you with your approval. Also, someone told me about a guy affiliated with obesitylaw.com, that helps us fight the ins. companies, and helps with approvals. What about finding out about him? Not sure if any of this is helpful, but I hope it is! Best of luck to you! And you're in my prayers! Guest guest
Thanks unfortunately if you work for Boeing you are covered and I work for a small company. We don't even have the option to add this surgery to our coverage. I'm so down today...I feel as if the air got taken out of me and there is no hope now. I can't afford to hire an attorney. I feel very stuck. I can not handle the thought of going thru the rest of my life in the condition I'm in now. AJ blondensweet@... wrote: >AJ, > >I'm really sorry for what you're going through. Guest guest
good luck.. I can't afford to persue it with a lawyer. I am a single mom and go to college so there isn't anything left at the end of the month. I probably will have to forget I wanted to persue this. Guest guest
thanks ...yea it is so wonderful that I can work and have insurance and they won't take care of me but if I go on disability, which I could qualify for, I could have it paid for. So so stupid. AJ nsyncmom2001@...> wrote: >AJ, I'm so sorry to hear this awful news. Guest guest
AJ Sweetie: Walter Lindstrom charges a very reasonable rate not the outrageous fees of other lawyers at least e-mail him explain your problem and let him tell you if he thinks he can help, Walter does not offer false hope if it is an insurance company he knows can't be moved he will tell you up front and not waste your money or his time. It is worth it to yourself to ask him I think you probably could afford him his fees are really reasonable, you will probably talk to his wife, (also a lawyer) she is really a nice lady. Walter had the DS surgery and after finding out how much trouble the insurance companies give us he made WLS approvals the mainstay of his practice. Go ahead AJ e-mail him and check it out. You owe it to your self. Huggles, Tiger
Guest guest
Hold on a second there, Legal Aid Lawyers, and Pro-Bono lawyers. These lawyers take the case and only get paid if they win the case. Contact the law school that is closest to your home and ask about the local Legal Aid chapter and ask them if any 3L's are doing any insurance clinic. Please dont give up.
