Alright cats and kitties, I finally get to say the three words I've been longing to say since last summer:

I

GOT

APPROVED!!!!!!!!!

Snoopy dancin' - Hamster dancin' - Belly dancin' time

(Yes, this is the only way I could be capable of going from 0-60 in ten seconds flat!)

Dr. Pomp called me at 8pm tonight to say that he finally spoke to the Medical Director of Aetna, and as long as he agrees not to call it a "Duodenal Switch"

(and use the term "gastric bypass" instead - which the DS is) they would approve!!!

Un - F N - believable!!

I got Dr. Pomp real good: He was telling me how hard it was to get a hold of the medical director, how he kept getting put on hold forever, etc. I told him it sounded like what I go through to reach him!! I had him ROTFLHAO !

So the approval is verbal right now - the paperwork should take a couple of days to go through. You can bet if I don't see it in the mail on Thursday or Friday, I'm gonna be burnin' up the phone lines to Aetna.

Hurdle #2 will be getting a date. is supposed to call me so we can set up for NEXT WEEK. I'll keep ya's posted.

Lastly - and this is a concern - is clearance from the hematologist. I see him Thursday morning. G-d willing, he will draw blood, examine it under the microscope, and find absolutely nothing. That is how my PCP layed it out for me.

So don't put those cats, dogs, kids, livestock, pasta, or in-laws away just yet - give 'em another swing for me, will ya?

from NE PhillyBMI 63, age 39Open DS w/ Dr. Pomp - bless his heart - NEXT WEEK!

Aetna USHC, HMO - payin' for a "gastric bypass"!
