Guest guest
My son is 7 1/2 months old. He has been diagnosed w/ Pyruvate Carboxylase Deficiency. As a result, he has lactic acidosis, hyperammonia (elevated ammonia), seizures, low muscle tone, osteopenia, and elevated glucose. He's been in the hospital on and off for more than half of his life. Currently, his ammonia, glucose, and lactic acid has elevated. He is being treated at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. If anyone has or is experiencing anything like this before...I'd love some insight or prevention tips (if there is any). Does cornstarch truly help mito children with their fatigue? Take care-Krista
Guest guest
I really have no experience with this type of mito, my daughter is non specific mito. I have never heard of cornstarch being used for energy. We used to use cornstarch to keep Gracies blood sugar stable during the night time, she is hypoglycemic. I noticed you stating that your child has high blood sugar. I would make sure you consulted with a doctor before giving him cornstarch, because it is a very long lasting complex carbohydrate. I am not too sure if it would be safe or not, we are so used to dealing with low blood sugars. As far as energy reasons go. We have noticed that when we can keep her blood sugars pretty stable she has more energy. She tends to get very crabby and sleepy when they are unstable. Also, for her, the Co Q 10 is the best energy supplement we have found.
