Guest guest
Thank you for clearing that up Dr. Rutledge. I knew Debbie said in clinic that they are made for children not adults. Lara
Guest guest
Dr. R has fairly extensive information on what vitamins he recommends. For a multi-vitamin, he recommends One Source from Wal-Mart. They are cheap, they can be broken in half, and they are easily obtainable. As to the other supplements, you will see extensive post-op information in the manual in case you printed it, or you can do a search under supplements or vitamins on the site and all of the supplements and what they do for us in recovery are listed and explained. I take the One Source. Because I am cheap and I like things that are easily obtainable. Guest guest
Just our experience- The one with P5P seems to work better for us. Evidently it's a more broken down form of B6. We tried the regular with our twins and the ones with P5P work much better. We get more speech, more initiated contact, etc. Donna
Guest guest
Hi- Post op I took flinstones(chewable), tums for calcium, ADEKS, hormone replacement therapy, blood pressure meds and didn " t start the major vits-citrical, centrum, iron, actigal, etc. until a month after. This was what Dr. Herron told me to do. Chewables the first month and then graduate to the real pills. Ellen(Pam

Guest guest
Deb, I haven't taken Shaklee vitamins in a while. Moving around I lost contact with the distributor I was buying them from. We use Starlight vitamins now and they are really good too. If Shaklee ever comes back with the grape vitamin C I will just have to find someone again. They were really, really good tasting. Especially since I love grape SweetTarts! Love, Aunt B

Guest guest
Thanks Kim!! They are really cheap compared to what I pay for the Shaklee. I paid $22.90 for a count of 130 tablets. Do think they have really worked for you kids? I have always believe you get what you pay for. Deb A
Guest guest
Deb, You can get water-soluble vitamin E and water-soluble vitamin A from Grandom Bev's pharmacy. If your girls can swallow their enzymes, then they won't have a problem swallowing these capusles. If you're looking for a good chewable multivitamin/mineral tablet, then you might look at Animal Parade. The minerals are chelated so should be better absorbed than most on the market. I know a mom of a 16-yr. old with CF. He really likes the Animal Parade chewables. If your daughters are accepted in the Mannatech study, then you'll get Mannatech's Glyco-Bears (multivitamin/minerals). These also have chelated minerals. I bought one bottle for my 20-yr. old daughter to try since she hates swallowing pills. She loved the taste of the Glyco-Bears (though her boyfriend did not like them). Here's a link for purchasing Animal Parade online. This is the cheapest price I've found so far, but with some online searching or local searching maybe you can find a better bargain. This is the same place where I buy my Solgar magnesium so cheaply (and a tip for those buying magnesium, Solgar is offering a $5.00 rebate right now. House of Nutrition sent the rebate form with my last order. Every little dollar helps!) http://search.store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/nsearch?catalog=hono & query=anima l+parade & .autodone=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.houseofnutrition.com%2F Kim I have never heard of Starlight vitamins are the an expensive vitamin to? Guest guest
> Is there any vitamins or other suplements I should ask for? Do you mean ask FOR or ask ABOUT? I just wonder if your dr. sells supplements. SInce supplements don't need a prescription it's more a matter of discussion between the two of you unless you have other health concerns. I take a multivitamin, calcium that comes with magnesium, B complex, and vitamin C. Some people with Graves Disease find that the vitamin C makes them hyper. If you're prone to catching bugs, etc. you may want to take it, especially if you opt not to get the flu shot. And of course the multi and all vitamins should NOT have iodine in them. > She may bring up the anti-depressants, which ones should I stay away > from, and any suggestions on sleeping medications other than ambian? > I have been on that for a while, on and off. How are you doing on ambian? For the first time in a few months I'm sleeping well again and frankly can't figure out why, so I'm open to sleeping medications if my insomnia starts up again. Guest guest
The clinic I went to said only chewable for 6 months, the reason being that they started disbursing from the time you chewed them. I was told that with such a small surface area in our new stomach, less vitamins are disbursed. When I saw the surgeon, and his assistant, they both told me chewable.
