Guest guest
, My heart goes out to you. It truly does. One thing that I want to point out is that the heating pad is bringing in more inflammation-- and keeping you in pain. I know it feels good for the short time, but then when you get off it, your inflammation rebounds even higher. I also would bet that some of the meds you're on have muscle issues. Call the pharmacist and give him a list of what you are on-- and tell him what is happening. He can tell you if this is side effects from the combination of meds you're on. You are right about the dehydration-- and with it comes the electrolyte imbalances, which only exacerbate the muscle spasms. I suspect you are on a diuretic also? I know that as uncomfortable as it sounds-- ice packs bring down inflammation. Water and Gateraide or some form of electrolyte drink will help. Can you do smoothies. A banana/orange/ berry smoothie will bring in some of those vitamins that you are lacking. I do mine with yoghurt-- and that helps to get the balance of good flora back into the gut. I'm sure with your chest being cracked open for the 3rd time is insult to injury. I can't imagine what that does to the nerves in our spine. So much of pain is related to vitamin/mineral defiencies-- and our diet is lacking - and we don't process the vitamins/minerals as we should. There is some question as to whether part of the picture with sarcoidosis is a Vitamin C defiency and/or a Vitamin D defiency or overprocessing. The jury is still out on this one. One thing we all need to realize is that our meds deplete all the B vitamins-- Folic Acid, Calcium utilization, the minerals --and all this leads to pain. I know you know that I sing the praises of MSM-- and what it does to relieve my pain. If you can get to a good--very good Health Food Store-- talk to someone who can help you. If you can tolerate vegetable juices-- and hopefully home-made ones, Carrot/apple juice, beet/apple juice, will help. They bring the levels of Vit A and C up very quickly. If you are anemic, there are alot of juices that you can do with vege greens, celery, etc. You do need to watch your blood sugar-- and balance them with greens etc. Protein powder is a good additive - I'd ask if Whey Protein is a good choice--as compared to Soy. Soy, is harder to digest. When i was in the Pain Control Clinic, they had frozen ice in styrofoam cups, and we'd be face down on the massage table, they'd run the ice up and down our spines, numbing it. Then they'd work outward to the muscles and ligaments around the ribcage, and the end effect was incredible! By numbing the area, you could relax and then as it wore off--- the circulation actually increases to the area, and that means more blood and oxygen- and faster healing! Are you at a place yet in your recovery where you can see a chiropractor? I suspect that you were rather contorted physically when they did your surgery, and now your muscles and ligaments are screaming at you. I so wish I was close by, I'd be over helping you with all the techniques and guided visualizations and massages---- you my dear friend, are in my heart and prayers. Guest guest
If you guys have any remedies for spinal pain please tell me!!! I suffer tremendously from it!!! The DRs would never tell me what was causing it they just told me they couldn’t operate on it to fix it. I somehow thought it would be fixable silly me! I am on Oxycodone and also 800mg of ibprofin. And when it wears off I suffer. Every night I can be found sleeping on the floor of my bedroom cold it is. It was -20 here last night up here in north east Iowa. I was having a massage once a month then went to every two weeks no my Dr's say I can go every week. I have found that where the muscle is hooking on to my pelvic bone the muscle glues together and turns to stone. When the muscle glues itself to another muscle it can not slide like it is suppose to. Thus causing the most severe awful pain. And my tailbone hurts something fierce. Do any of the others of you have this. I can go into a hot tub with very hot after it helps those muscles to relax. I feel a little better short term. I sleep on a hot pad, not good dehydrates me. I am recovering from third open heart surgery so I should do this but I do I put my head on the floor or pillow and then get in the fetal position that pulls a lot of those back muscles apart.\ I've had some problems with my recovery from open heart surgery this time, Mayo sent me back to local DR office. I needed to have INR checked for the coumadin I was on. I found out the digoxin levels in my blood were at toxic levels The amaretione drug I was on for arrhythmias was driving the degoxin level another drug I was on for my heart to toxic levels.. They told me to hold the two drugs for three days. I did. Then the local office told me to take 5 digoxin pills to make up for the ones I missed. I told my mayo dr and he said by no means take that many. I would have been dead. This is the third time the local office would have killed me for some reason or another. I told my mayo DR at least all the offices that rejected me as a patient admitted they couldn’t take care of me. I told my mayo DR I am a medical missfit. I am so high risk it is impossible for me to have a local DR. my situation is much to complicalted. So when they day go home to your local DR I go home to myself. Frustrated totally and live in constant spinal pain MMOmmer
