Guest guest
"Joint stiffness and swelling can occur in the knees, ankles, elbows, wrists feet, and hands. The disease can also cause a granulomatous form of arthritis." How can a doctor tell if it is sarcoidosis caused? I keep telling my doctors all these symptoms must be sarc, yet they are unfamiliar and reluctant to give all these symptoms the same cause without "confirmation." I'd request to see a Rheumatologist. If your ACE level is high, and if your ESR rate is normal-- the joint pain will be from sarcoid induced arthritis. I'll see if I can find a couple of articles-- I'm sure I've got some somewhere. "Sarcoidosis can cause painless holes in bones and painless swelling, most commonly in the fingers." Would that show up in the bone scans? My xrays showed this-- we were checking my hands and wrists to see what the joint disfigurement is---for me, I have the "lacey" look (swiss cheese holes) in my thumbs, and I have the added osteoarthritis from way to many years playing fast pitch softball (as a catcher). I also have significant digit enlargement where the bones end in my fingers, and the next section begins. Wearing my rings has become an issue, because the knuckles are swollen and my finger bones themself are very small. so my rings feel really sloppy on my hands. My spine shows the bone spurs--we saw them on the CT scans. One thing I read over and over is the value of a PET scan with contrast. This shows uptake in areas that are inflammed or ending up destroyed by the granulomas. They say it has no pain significance-- I think we'd all like to beat them.
