Guest guest
Hi all! My local grocer had a sale on their Hatfield Pork Loin. I purchased a huge one. I got a meat grinder attachment for my Kitchen Aide mixer for Christmas and I am excited to make homemade sausage this weekend. I couldn't find info on the package about added stuff. So I checked it out online and it looks illegal. I'm bummed out now. Is there any remote chance I can still eat it, maybe if I rinse is really really well (?) http://www.hatfieldqualitymeats.com/Products/Product.aspx?ProductID=10 Thanks, Holly O Crohn's 5/09 SCD 9/1/
Guest guest
I looked at the ingredients. Even if you rinsed it, the flavorings are injected into the meat. Remember, a tiny amount for us is a feast for bacteria. I would not eat this. I hope you have other family members and friends to enjoy this, or a soup kitchen that will appreciate it. This is what I do with my mistakes...find someone who can safely enjoy them. We all make mistakes at first on SCD, but the money we might " save " by eating them is not worth getting sick over. Better to turn this into a blessing for someone else. PJ > > Hi all! > > My local grocer had a sale on their Hatfield Pork Loin. I purchased a huge one. The roast has been injected with that stuff, as well as soaking in it for who-knows-how-long. I'd cook it and gift someone with it for the New Year. I don't see any point in you going to all the work of making LEGAL sausage, only to have your efforts negated by the cr@p they put in your meat to begin with. Guest guest
Thanks PJ and Marilyn. I won't be eating the pork I purchased. I'll chalk this one up to a lesson learned.
