Guest guest
Can anyone direct me to a site where I can find out how many mgs of sorbitol are in an avocado? Thank you and Happy New Year to all... Dinah
Guest guest
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avocado It has 0.66 sugar but nothing on having sorbitol. They have a lot more potassium than bananas--didn't know that. I went to the sorbitol page, it mentions stone fruit and that link is at the bottom. No mention of avocado having sorbitol though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_fruit#Terminology You may want to google for more information on both since I'm not sure wikipedia.com is totally reliable. Guest guest
Thank you Debbie... I did Wiki and Google my head off before I brought my query here. I know avocados contain sorbitol, or so I believe, I just do not know how much. I can't imagine that avocados contain any sorbitol at all. Sorbitol doesn't naturally occur in fruit, does it, unless that fruit is highly over-ripe and starting to spoil or ferment? It's a sugar-alcohol that is made from fermented fruits (or corn or seaweed, e.g.), and that the body metabolizes very slowly. n >> — Marilyn >> New Orleans, Louisiana, USA >> Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 >> Darn Good SCD Cook >> No Human Children >> Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund >> > > -- Now available. You can look it up online, there's a fair amount of info. Peace =)Alyssa 15 yoUC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)No meds! Guest guest
I read stone fruits and even minute amounts in coconut. I may google on it later; interesting because I thought it was one of those artificial sweeteners. No idea it would be in natural food. debbie 40 cd I can't imagine that avocados contain any sorbitol at all. Seems like we already know about a lot of things that are OK in the natural state but not if extracted, concentrated or built in the lab.
