They do not want to put her on BP meds because there is no medical reason for this happening, and it is very inconsistent. She is always usually high, but sometimes in her sleep (deep sleep) she drops to normal for her age. They worry if they start medicating her, when it does drop in her sleep it may drop to low. Who knows? I guess we like to make the doctors think a little. Hi , I started having high BP due to dysautonomia when I was 20. It would go high (like 170/110) for weeks at a time and would be worse with standing. I would be very symptomatic with sweating, headaches, flushing, shortness of breath, dizziness, etc. and would feel really sick with it. But then, after several weeks of being high it would go back to normal. Finally, after a year of it doing this they started me on atenolol and since then my BP has been under really good control. That was about 5 yrs ago. I was worried that going on BP meds would make my BP go low during the times when it went back to normal and wasn't high, but this hasn't been the case with me at all.
