Judy, I'm so sorry about your fall. It must have been really scary. It's so hard to make ourselves do what we know we should do, isn't it? "It's just a short distance; I don't need the walker," etc. I do idiotic stuff all the time. Nothing as serious as your fall, but stuff that just gives me more work to do. Like last week, I decided to drink some punch straight out of the pitcher. Now, I was standing right next to the cabinet with the glasses & the thought crossed my mind that this wasn't the best thing to do, but I did it anyway, and poured punch right down my shirt! I had just come from church, so it wasn't an old tee shirt, it was a nice shirt, mostly white, and I had to sit & scrub it for quite awhile to get the stain out. This made my hands & arms extra sore & tired. All because I didn't want to get a glass!

So, whether it's a minor thing or a major one, we really ought to use all the resources we have, whether it's people, equipment, or just common sense. Hope your shoulder recovers quickly, and don't decide to try shoveling the snow! Don't let Bob do it either! Love & a gentle hug, Rose

I got up to go to the bathroom this morning, then I was walking into the front room to check on the school closings, Out of nowhere my left leg (the one with the muscle missing on the right side. This muscle holds the patella in place.)gave out on me the next thing I knew I was on the floor. It was 6:15 in the morning. Our first floor bedroom is very well insulated so I had to scream for about 30 minutes before he heard me.It took us two hours to get me up because I strained my right shoulder.I am very heavy and I would not let bob try to lift me since he had his heart attacks. We have a large exercise ball,he let out some of the air and eventually get myself up on the ball, I had one of those lift belts that they use in the hospital. After my lecture about not getting up with my walker, Bob was able to hold the ball so it wouldn't move. I can't bend my legs early in the morning but finally I was able to scoot my backside onto the ball. The whole process took two hours.Outcome is a really strained my right shoulder I can hardly lift my arm but thankfully I didn't break anything. So my shoulder is packed in ice and I am wearing a sling.Bob kept wanting to call an ambulance to help me get up which I whole heartedly said no. I could just see the ambulance bill.Well we had an ice storm all last night and this morning. It is now trying to start snowing. The ice is so thick that bob could stand on it and it held his weight which is about 239 poounds.Someone mentioned about using Calcium. There is something about every type of calcium gives me almost inatant loose of control of my stool. We even tried the calcium nose spray. No luck.Well just what I needed, more aches and pains.happy valentines day.Judy in PA
