Guest guest
Recently my new doctor switched me from Pentasa to Asacol HD. (Just FYI though, I've been unable to get phenergan or generic clonzapam this week so this could be part of what's wrong.) I always felt better on Pentasa if I ate the wrong thing like butternut squash or something like that. I do not recall ever feeling worse with it. Asacol HD has the same active ingredient mesalamine. When I take it, my stomach then gut *kill* me. I do not feel better within an hour and I have *tons* of gas. It's worse than eating day old watermelon spiked with 1/2 gallon of fresh lime juice. What is up with that? So it's 800mg each at 3 per day. I was afraid to take Pentasa on top of that since it's the same thing and I don't have phenergan and I'm splitting pills with the other. It at least relaxes me. Has anyone ever had a reaction like this? The doctor who prescribed it is one of the two out of town this week. Thanks and feel free to email me off-list if you want. I didn't get as much gut involvement as you did but what I got was pretty annoying. I also got really nasty wide-spread pain! I looked it up and pain IS a recognized side effect of the stuff. And this is supposed to help. I don't know about Pentasa on top of it, sorry. All I know is, I was sure glad to get rid of this stuff. When I started taking it for my UC, it made my D about 10 times worse. Go figure! Peace =)Alyssa 15 yoUC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)No meds!
