You can make the trial and error approach very methodical and scientific [grin]. That is what I do. I am a very intuitive person, not at all scientific, but when it comes to figuring out what works for my digestion, and my other body systems that tend to react too, I have to be methodical in my experimenting or I'd go crazy with frustration.

SCD contains a lot of science, and there is a lot of technical and scientific information on digestion and nutrition in the medical literature. I find research helpful to understand better what is going on so it is easier for me to deduce what food will work and what probably won't. Then I test things and pay close attention to how my body behaves. There are a lot of subtle signals that pre-SCD I rarely paid attention to -- now I do.

So I use a combination of research and experimentation. In the end, that is all we can do because no one solution or food list fits all of us.

,,,My DH isn't happy with the trial and error approach and wants something more 'scientific.'
