Guest guest
had this problem too and just drooled once he progressed and that was the way it was. He also had dysautonomia. I know there is a drooling medicine but I don't think its recommended for our kids. It dries everything up and considering (and many mito kids) had increased thirst, it would have made other problems worse. With him, some days were worse than others but we have many pictures with a wet shirt! deb...mom to three great kids and wife to one amazing guy!http://www.lifeofloveproject.org/http://www.heartliftersgallery.com/ Crazy Lizzies!! Guest guest
Grace actually drools a lot. For her it is a combination of dystautonomia problems and some muscle tone issues in her face. We are hoping as she gets older she will be more aware, and try to swallow better. Thankfully her allergy medication dries her up a little so it is not too bad. There are medications used to dry the mouth if it becomes more of a problem, or it becomes bothersome. Since Grace is only two now, we are not too worried. If it does not get more controlled as she gets older we may resort to something better than her allergy medication. I don't think there are any major health issues, other than increased risk of dental problems.
Guest guest
We have just noticed that Devin (5) has started to have *very* increased saliva production. We have to remind him often that he needs to swallow. He says it makes his tummy sick when he swallows all that saliva though, which is why I think he's holding it in his mouth for so long. I read that this is a symptom of the Autonomic Nervous System. Maybe part of his as of yet undiagnosed Dysautonomia? Do any of you see this same thing in your Mito children? If so, what have you done about it, if anything? It's probably just something he'll have to deal with. I know it's minor though, so we're not really worried. I'm just curious. e *Ü*
Guest guest
We put on Robinal (and Scopolamine) to control saliva production. It works really well. His skin looks much better. He would just let the salvia drool out of his mouth. Sue Ann One more question *Ü* We have just noticed that Devin (5) has started to have *very* increased saliva production. Guest guest
This was years ago for my 7 yr. old- he had a deficiency of something, but I can't remember if the cal/mag/zinc took care of it, or the Cod liver Oil ( Vit A).
