Guest guest
Re: CNN report. My husband said he saw part of it, at least he thinks it's the one he saw. He said the 1 in 50 was very misleading, as it included and many different types of gastric bypass. I think this is where we come in.....check out your doctor, see his track record. Check out the different methods used. I felt very safe as the 3 surgeons in this group have done over 3500 of this particular surgery, and have lost 3 (all with heart problems). That's 1 in 1166 surgeries! They have extensive data from past surgeries, and have learned 2 important issues. One is to remove as little of the intestine as possible, I think about 8-9 " . The other is they suture most of it as it has had less problems than stapling. The complications risk was also very low. This track record gave me enormous security in having this surgery done. Research all you can about the doctor(s) you're considering. Joan LAP RNY 11/18/03 Dr. Higa, Fresno, CA 282pre-op/275surg/243/
