Its more dangerous to live our lives heavy than to have this surgery.

People make a big deal out of it. My doctor and done this surgery for years and

has never had anyone die on him...

Re: CNN report. My husband said he saw part of it, at least he thinks it's

the one he saw. He said the 1 in 50 was very misleading, as it included and

many different types of gastric bypass. I think this is where we come

in.....check out your doctor, see his track record. Check out the different

methods used. I felt very safe as the 3 surgeons in this group have done

over 3500 of this particular surgery, and have lost 3 (all with heart

problems). That's 1 in 1166 surgeries! They have extensive data from past

surgeries, and have learned 2 important issues. One is to remove as little

of the intestine as possible, I think about 8-9 " . The other is they suture

most of it as it has had less problems than stapling. The complications

risk was also very low. This track record gave me enormous security in

having this surgery done. Research all you can about the doctor(s) you're

considering.

Welcome !

Salt Lake my home away from home I have condos up the mountain from you at Snowbird. I have not been there to ski for 4 years because of my sarcoid. But I came to Salt Lake to buy a sport car two summers ago.

I have lot of Friends that live in your city.

Sorry to hear your so sick, I am just recovering from my third open heart surgery, but my family was there for two weeks in jan.
