But, I sure as heck am enjoying it! I got on the scale this am and I'm now..... 242!!! Wow, it's been pretty quick this week. I'm basically following the same plan I always have... walking at least 3x/week, focusing on protein, eating less carbs (just can't fit them in), trying to cut out sugar as much as possible (sometimes I have ice cream, sweet iced tea other fruit/soft drink but I really try not to often). I guess my body has finally caved in and realizes it shouldn't fight as damn much as it has in the past four months! LOL I just got off a two week plateau where the scales didn't budge and (as is customary for me), even moved up 2-4 lbs!!! I mean, it's not like I'm working out, lifting weights, eating lots of fat (which I've heard some say can 'break' a plateau) or even eating less... Sometimes I can eat quite a bit and am hungry (like: one hamburger or sandwich, some fries and veggies). Other times I just DON'T feel like eating at all, especially in this humidity. I just try to ensure that I get that protein drink in if I'm not eating much any given day. I feel like the incredible shrinking woman, man! What an incredible week and a half this has been! LOL I actually decided to put all my 'big/fat clothes' in a box.. you know, the 4x/5x stuff... even 3x! It's strange, but even though I've lost almost 65 lbs, I still can wear these 3x shorts I got from Sears last year (never wore them b/c they were way too tight). I think that some clothing is just made small even if it has an xx label on it. Also, I'm big in the hips and butt (hey -- my butt is shrinking, but it's still THERE LOL), so maybe it's my shape... I got to get some new clothes, though b/c these old pants are practically falling off me if I put my car keys in the pocket! I tell you, it feels absolutely GREAT! I wish everyone's surgery would be so uneventufl and their recovery so smooth. I feel so bad whenever I hear of someone who has a complication (and also worry that, withmy great track record I'm DESTINED to face it in the future! LOL I'm kind of a glass-half-empty type). I honestly don't know why some people can have such a difficult time while I had such a positive experience. I know that prayer played a major role in my recovery but I don't know why others experience troubles despite deep faith and prayer. all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 four months post-op and still feelin' fab! pre-op: 307 lbs/bmi 45 now:
Guest guest
, I think your doing great. I have to disagree with you LOL . I think you are definitly a glass half full person. With all the posts I have seen from you, its always been positive and upbeat, and that helps us pre-ops alot. Even with your slow start on the weight loss it did not seem like a lot of complaining to me. You are always there to add a positive note. I joined the list when you were just being switched and its so encouraging to have people stay on the list and watch them go down, and down, slow or fast, and be happy. Thanks Darlene from Maine Darlene Pre-op BMI 49 waiting ????? whats up with BC/BC????? Re: ) > Hey !> > I haven't posted here in forever, but I do read daily. What's up, girlfriend???? Great to hear from you! Today I went up to 243 (from 242) and my period's on the way, so I think this amazing week and a half is starting to slow down a bit. ROFL Never fear, I'm sure it will pick up again soon! :) I was more worried than anything else about my weight loss -- having only shed 15 lbs at my three week post-op visit. :) But, Dr. Gagner has assured me that he's seen this pattern before and I will lose the weight -- all in good time. :) I think I may FINALLY be starting to believe him! LOL I'm so glad my posts and experience has encouraged others and/or helped them to see one post-op's experience. It is one of the scariest things I've ever done and on some levels it takes tremendous amounts of faith (either of the practical or religious kind - or both LOL).
