Guest guest
For the past several days my upper back, between my shoulder blades has been hurting, to the point that taking a breath even hurts. I don't know whats causing it, I figure its the sarc. My parents are wonderful, they try to make things as easy for me as possible, but I feel like all I do anymore is whine about this ache or pain. I've started taking magnisium because I remember reading a post that said it helps with some of the pains. I can't take calcium because I produce way too much on my own. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. Also I'm not sure how much magnisium I should take, I got the 250mg tablets. Thanks for letting me whine. I know I'm not the only one in pain and I know that between all of us we might make each other suffer just a bit less. Kimber
Guest guest
Kimber, don't worry about whining, that's why we are here. Have you tried massage, warm packs or cold packs for the back pain? Do you have any shortness of breath or cough with it? It's probably musculoskeletal pain (a nice catch-all term for anything to do with muscles & joints), but another possibility is ____________ I can't think of the name, but it's inflammation around the lung sacs. Every time you take a breath it causes excruciating pain. Calcium requires magnesium in order to be assimilated into the blood stream and muscles/ligaments. Do be careful tho- straight magnesium will give you the runs. Remember "Milk of Magnesia"-- it worked well on us as kids. Manganese is mineral that really has shown promise, and I know that there are several articles that refer to it for muslce and joint pain. I'll be interested to see if the Magnesium does help, if you are able to process the calcium better-- it could be a real benefit. I have to go to my son's room to use his computer as I'm getting run out of here-- stationary bike use, and the weight bench is in my computer room-- so it's nuts in here-- look for the follow up post....************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. It is great for constipation. Manganese is also a trace mineral that we need to build bone and cartlidge repair. This is one element that I'm just starting to learn about- so I"m not comfortable giving out advice on this one-- but I would talk to a pharmacist or a Health Store homeopathic doc-- I know that if your lymphnodes in your chest and the medial stinum area between the ribcage-- gets inflammed, and many times with pulm sarc that is a very susceptible area-- you will feel it between the shoulder blades. Kim I know you don't have health insurance, do you qualify for your States MediCaid program. This would at least get some of the testing done, and if you're having that pain between the shoulder blades, they may very well confirm your sarc with a chest xray, ct's and a bronchoscopy where getting the biopsy is a simple procedure. If you are serious about looking at alternative ways to handle your sarc--I'd be checking out the Health Food STores and finding one that has highly trained Naturpaths or Homeopaths to help you. As far as the whining goes, we've all been there. When it seems as though the pain and uncertainity of living with chronic illness is all we have going on with our body and mind-- it's hard to not find yourself whining. I've done quite a few posts on the Five Stages of Grieving-- and I highly recommend you check the ARCHIVES. What you are going thru is normal, and it's ok. I see you looking for answers, and willing to try anything that may be out there. Just be careful and listen to that inner voice-- if it doesn't feel right-- don't jump into it. In the meantime, be kind to yourself, and share your concerns iwht your parents. If they know you are aware of feeling like you're whining, and lost in yourself-- they sound like they'd be willing to hold you while you go thru this. Let them. And let them know that even if they can't fix you, their love is most important. Blessings, Tracie NS Co-owner/moderator ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
Hi Kimber and group, I feel the same way about whining because something seems to always be hurting or acting up. I have the hurting pain in my back. I think it is the sarcoids because it just comes for no reason and so far the only thing that has helped is to increase prednisone. I do have problems with cramping in my feet when tapering down from medicine. Is there anything that anyone knows might help. Shauna in atl Finding fabulous fares is fun.Let Yahoo! Guest guest
Shauna, several years ago when I first started systemic symptoms, one weird symptom was muscle cramping. I had cramps where I didn't even know I had muscles! I couldn't wipe my ____ without getting cramps in my hand, arm, back. Someone at work told me that her father had taken quinine for cramps. My neuro prescribed it for me & I've taken it ever since. I've stopped a couple of times when I ran out, but within a week or two the cramps would start back up. You can't take it with some of the drugs used to treat sarc because they are related. For me it's worked great, without any side effects, and it's cheap! > > Hi Kimber and group, > > I feel the same way about whining because something seems to always be hurting or acting up. Guest guest
Hello, I have terrible cramps in my muscles as well. Unfortunately i cannot take quinine because of a blood disease i previously have had. Apparently stretching exercises before bed is good. Does anyone know if the cramps are part of the sarcoidosis or the drugs? I am on methotrexate at the moment but have had the cramps when i haven't been on any meds. . > > > > Hi Kimber and group, > > > > I feel the same way about whining because something seems to > always be hurting or acting up. Guest guest
Well I started taking the magnisium and its only been a few days, but my back pain and body aches have seem to have eased up. I don't know if thats whats done it or not, but at this stage of the game I'm not going to stop taking it. I have applied for state medicaid and am waiting for them to go through there process. I just got some release of info forms to sign for them. We also have Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland and I was doing some research about them online and they offer financial assistance for those who need care and can't afford it, so I am looking into that also. If they can help me I think that would be my best bet for treatment, since they are a med school and are more into research than just a regular hospital or dr. Thanks so much for all the replies and for all the support. > > In a message dated 2/27/2007 7:01:54 AM Pacific Standard Time, > kimber31_1963@... writes: > > > I > > feel like all I do anymore is whine about this ache or pain.
