Guest guest
Hello All, I hope everything is well. Has anyone had a problem, where all of a sudden your child refuses you to touch there g tube? We have been having this problem for the last few weeks with Grace. She is in OT for SID but this was never a concern before. I did have her pediatrician, and a nurse I know check it (visually, she would not let them touch it either) and nobody sees any problems with it. At first I just thought it was a phase and would pass in a few days, but it has not. She is not feed through her tube, it is primarily for medications. I have been just giving her medicines in her drinks (she will not take them if she knows what they are), and doing the ones that I can when she is asleep. The problem is that she is not getting the proper doses this way, and she is starting to get back some of her old issues (runny green BM's, pale face, dark eyes). This is why we got the g tube in the first place. Any suggestions are helpful. Thank you in advance.
Guest guest
- Do you think it is hurting her? Does she whince when you try to touch it or is it more a control issue that she doesn't want anyone to touch it?
Guest guest
> , You are able to do the meds when she is asleep and she doens't know? I would assume by that that it is not a pain issue. Is sounds like it could be a behavior issue. has autism and gets very agressive about things. Sometimes she screams when I change her diaper. Now you know it cannot be comfortable, but she just doens't want it changed for some reason. Last week she wore the same shirt for 5 days. I had to quickly wash it after she fell asleep or was in the bathtub. I actually put in her in a cute outfit for her transfusion visit on monday and she through a fit for the firt two hours. I finally had to get her shirt cause she just wouldn't stop. It is hard, but I would just let her scream if you need to do the meds. If you stop doing them , she will not feel well and then she also wins. It is hard.If it is not health related, I try to deal with it (let her have whatever within reason) but there is no compromise when it is her health. Like I said, if it was a pain issue I would think that you using at night would wake her up. Good luck, Dawn
