Guest guest
Hi everyone- I'm switched and home and feeling ok- I was switched on Monday, had the swallow test on Tuesday, which came out ok, then the bed broke and I was lying with my head way back and my torso was being stretched. It was so painful that I was screaming- they finally got the head of the bed up. It took hours for me to recoup-Thank goodness my husband stayed because I would have had to hire companions- I really needed someone for those little things such as ice chips and help to the bathroom when the catheter was taken out etc- The nurses were very nice but there is only so much they can do- they are really very busy- I was very luck to get a private room on the 8th floor center so he stayed round the clock - I found out when I came home that I was on the same floor as and never new it -I would have loved to visit her - I did get a call from . She left her room number as I was sleeping but not which wing. I didn't know her last name and asked the operator but was unsuccessful in tracking her down - Sorry - the first thing they brought me to eat on Tuesday was some broth, lime gelatin and tea- yum yum- the same on Wednesday morning, Wednesday lunch was puree veggies, whipped potatoes and something they call soufflet- which is any protein that is whipped- yum yum again- Thursday however I had Cream of Wheat Cereal, applesause and tea- I ate about 5 or six teaspoonfuls of the cereal and 2 or three of the applesause and was not feeling well for most of the day after that- When the nutritionist came in she determined that I over-ate- eventhough I stopped before I thought I was full she said it sounds like it may have been too much for me- it was probably last a few hours and then I would feel better- Well she was right- that's exactly what happened-I was then asked if I thought I wanted to go home so here I am- I got home very late in the day, about 7:30pm- I found that I can't lay down comfortably in my bed so I will sleep in a recliner for tonight and ordered a hospital bed for a week or so- I have a bad back and can't lye flat and due to soreness can't lay on my sides- ---Each day I feel a little better though and that's what counts- now I am on my way down, down, down-- Sue- "going down" permanentlybmi 53 post-op bpd/ds w/ Dr GagnerMt Sinai- 6.18.
Guest guest
Sue: I tried to find you at Mt. Sinai when I was there on Wed 6/20. The staff couldn't locate you and insisted you had left. I'm sorry we didn't get to meet. I did get to visit with for about an hour that day, and do one lap with her. She left a message on my answering machine today and said she was getting ready to go home. Glad you're home and ready to " ease on down the road. " I'm counting the days until Sept. 5th.
