Our guest is Dr. M. Enns, M.B., Ch.B. Dr. Enns is an

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and director of the Biochemical

Genetics

Program at Stanford University. He received his medical degree from

the

University of Glasgow, Scotland. He completed his internship and

residency

(including chief residency) at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. He

was trained

in clinical genetics and clinical biochemical genetics at the

University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Enns has developed a

busy clinical service in metabolism and sees both children and

adults, although children are his primary focus. His research

interests include novel means of diagnosing and treating

mitochondrial disorders, with an emphasis on antioxidant therapy,

lysosomal disorders, and newborn screening by tandem mass

spectrometry. He is a founding memberof the newly organized Bay Area

Mitochondrial Association (BAMA), a group of clinicians and basic

scientists from Stanford University, Children's Hospital of Oakland

Research Institute, and the University of California, San Francisco

dedicated to advancing the field of mitochondrial medicine.
