Guest guest
LOL,.....yesterday the scrapbook lady came with my order and I was in my nightgown. Today a friend came to visit at 2 pm-ish and I had kept my nightgown on. Neither one even mentioned it cuz they know me well enough. My chest has been hurtin nightmareish-style. When I am in alot of pain I get bad dreams. real doozies.... In one of the last ones I was fighting off demons and one of the others I and some others were fightin off this big spiderish/octopusy thing...which by the way...some other big thing ate. lol Glad I woke up around then...yeah. Today I took my regular 2 Tramadol every 5 hours then my narcotic pill then later 6 msm capsules. I just took 2 acetaminaphen. (sp?) The doc said I could take them with the Tramadol. I am not going anywhere.... I am having trouble thinking straight through all the pain. I think the msm or acet. is kicking in and I'm going to lay down again. Rose, I hope you have extra slippers on hand...lol. Watched Stranger Than Fiction dvd with Will Ferrel and I can say the I have fallen in love with Harold Crick. ...btw... Guest guest
Hey Guys, I had to weigh in on this one. When it is time for a birthday, Christmas or whatever, ask your family for a pair of nice lounging pajamas. That way, when your father-in-law drops over unannounced again, you look presentable and not like you have been sleeping for the last three days. I got 3 pairs for Christmas and I rotate them so it looks like I have acutally changed clothes during a particular week when the fatigue is horrendous. I also watched a special on a disabled lady (polio) in the 50/60's who, even though she was in a wheelchair, did her hair and makeup everyday just to lift her own spirits. I am trying to learn from those who are in a more difficult position... Take Care. Terri G.
Guest guest
Hi Terri, I know that is a good idea, isn't it? I have my family trained! They give me comfortable lounging wear as you said and nightwear too because that is what I like to be in all the time. I do try to do the makeup thing too especially if I am going to the library. Thanks for passing on the suggestions. Hugs, Debbie T. Co-Moderator mosaicgirl1 wrote: Hey Guys, I had to weigh in on this one. Guest guest
Terri, the pajamas are a great idea. I used to have a pair made of satin; I felt like a queen wearing them (probably looked more like Cruella Deville, but how you feel is more important, right?!?). The poor things were totally worn out by the time I finally tossed them. Maybe I'll treat myself to another pair. Guest guest
Debbie, at the risk of grossing everyone out, I don't do it every day. I do the "necessaries" at the sink, but like you, just the thought of it makes me tired. I bought a shower stool awhile back, so at least I can sit down, but my arms get so tired. I'm lucky that my hair doesn't get oily, because I only shampoo it 2-3x/week. Even after being in the hot tub, I don't always rinse the chlorine out. Heck, still better than the pioneers, right? And we don't even want to think about the n days. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Lately that's the only thing I get done each day. I hate it too, but I don't feel too well or sleep well if I don't try to do it. The hot water has also been helping my sore back. I've had the chills the last week or so, among other things, and sitting with the hot water beating on my back til I'm all warmed up is a big plus. But it is exhausting. I have a rule that noone can talk to me for at least five minutes after I take a shower. I am just too exhausted. I usually try to paint every day but with this increased chest pain I can't manage it without increased agony. Tomorrow it's supposed to get in the 50's and maybe soon we'll get warmer and outside more often. hugs S.Debbie wrote: Hi, How many people feel like its so hard to get up and take a shower each day. That is the worst feeling I have when I am not doing well. Guest guest
Hi, I know exactly what you mean. Taking a shower is big time work. I do mine at night because I couldn't do my shower and do anything else the same day. I do my shower at night, get up the next morning, do my hair and makeup (if i am forced to wear any) and if I have an appointment, (and don't we see some doctor every day?) my day is full.Debbie wrote: Hi, How many people feel like its so hard to get up and take a shower each day. That is the worst feeling I have when I am not doing well. Guest guest
this cold was a killer for me this year too, I wish you warmer days soon! Tomorrow it's supposed to get in the 50's and maybe soon we'll get warmer and outside more often. hugs S. Guest guest
Boy oh boy do my kids get tired of hearing this one!!! For years I have fought this disease, and many times over those years it has gotten me down to the point that I was barely able to function, but every day, every single day I get up, shave shower and put on clothes, even is I have to sit down and gasp for air, or shake from the pain every other minute until I am donw, and yes there have been many times that it took several hours to accomplish this amazing feat, and often it is just so I can sit in front of the TV all day until it is time to climb the stairs and chang back into my pj's go to bed and start the whole thing over next day, but I refuse to allow myself to look like I feel. ( maybe it has something to do with being so ugle that the dog is repulsed, and hoping that by wearing reasonably nice clothing I won';t make the neighbors move out, but maybe not, I not all that fond of the neighbors anyway, and the dog just ate my lunch off the table so he's on his way out anyhow!). Yep, that's what my kids hear all the time, every time they whine about having to do something that I ocnsider obligatory, I tell them this, and I mean it. And these days it means even more than it used too. Back when this adventure first started, I came down with a sarcoid tumor in my lungs, now for those of you who haven't experienced this particular joy, let it suffice to say that breathing feels like someone is attacking the inner layers of your chest with a wood rasp, movement is almost impossible without gasping for air, coughing is an all day thing and often leads to blackouts until your oxegyn levels return to what passes for normmal, and don't even ask about the stuff that come up form your lungs when you do cough, it's just too disgusting to talk about, or even rmember for that matter. Well anyway, that's when I first discoverred that by putting a chair into the shower, (preferrably not your grandmother's chipendale), even at your worst you can take a nice hot shower and the steam will help soothe the pain in your chest, ease the pain throughout your body, and you are less likely to stink, (yes that is a problem for us dog lovers). Now doesn't that sound manly, sitting on a chair in the shower!!!!! Ah well, this thing has stolen just about everything else from me, why not manliness as long as we are having fun together. So, now I find myself once again having to sit my way through showers a couple of times a week, but I am still resisting the pressure from my wife who is bothered by the fact that I have nearly ruined the wooden stools in our house from the hot water, to go to the medical supply store and purchase a white metal and plastic shower chair that would last forever, but damnit, then I would feel like a sick person, and I'm just not ready for that!!! (Maybe tyhat's what the doctor meant when he said there was sumtin wrong wit my hade!~!!!!!) So, the jist of this story is that by barreling through regardless of the personal costs, I have at least accomplished teaching my children that you can do anything if you just dont' allow yourself to quit. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it, at least until this thing beats me, and then I'm an going to WHINNNNNNNNNE like nothing you've ever seen before!!!) Guest guest
Stu, I so appreciate hearing that even you tough guys out there are going thru the same things. I know that for so many of us, we have to develop that tough hide that keeps the sanity in. Teaching our kids that yep, even with chronic illness, one can find some assemblance of normal-- getting dressed, sitting at the breakfast table and starting the day laughing at them as they try to find their shoes and lunchboxes and the homework the dog at, after all we put the sandwich on top of it and roast beef and homework is a good match. So my philosophy-- keep on keeping on. Or, Just keep swimming, or paddle dammit, or any one of those 1000 things that people say when the going gets tough and tough get tougher or some such stuff.... Tracie, so we have to get dressed just to get the mail? I usually go out in my pj's & slippers. Of course, that's how I lost a slipper in the snow drift! Hey, that's my good thing to report--as the snow began melting, one of my dogs found my slipper & brought it to the back door! Doesn't that brighten your day?
