Guest guest
, Aunt Flo came the morning of my surgery! For me...it was pretty bad, mainly cuz when Aunt Flo comes, she COMES!!! Not sure what you use, but they stuck BIG pads on me, and as soon as I went to the bathroom..I used a tampon. Good luck, Cindy > Hi again! Guest guest
For the ladies only? What is this, censorship? This is outrageous! I won't stand for it I tell you. Why, I'll start a PETITION! > Have any of you ladies had your surgery while > you had your period? How did you manage (with > the catheter, etc.)? Oh, yuck, ew! Never mind. Guest guest
, I was on my monthly cycle when I had surgery. I don't think it bothered anyone but me! The catheter was normal. Things got a little messy, but the nurses took it in stride. I was the one crying like a baby because I was so embarassed! Just remember they are used to this sort of thing. Don't sweat it!....... I would recommend that you bring some of your own pads though, unless you want to wear the big supersized overniters!! Kim B. Guest guest
can you wear a tampon? i am really trying to schedule around that time but you never know. cheryl
Guest guest
I wore a tampon the minute I got home. I suppose I could have in the hospital too. If you have the mobility, I don't see why it wouldn't be okay! Kim B.
Guest guest
what about during surgery? can you wear one then? cheryl
Guest guest
Cheryl, I used tampons, the nurse didn't think I could...just didn't think I'd be able to..but I did. I " thought " I was scheduling my surgery around my time too...but NOT. Oh well..it's over now. Good luck, Cindy > can you wear a tampon? i am really trying to schedule around that time but > you never know. > cheryl

Guest guest
Ladies: While there is nothing wrong with tampons, please don't even think about inserting one while you have a Foley catheter (for urine) in place, or use one during surgery. Think about the anatomy--the foley is inserted into the urethra and is held in place in the bladder by a balloon. This causes increased pressure in the vagina, and a tampon would be uncomfortable to say the least! In addition, one is very suseptible to infection after surgery, and leaving a tampon in place for too long can cause toxic shock syndrome. Please, leave the tampons at home and just use peri-pads in the hospital. I know it's embarassing, but it's safer for you.
