Guest guest
Posted this message on the post-op problems list, where I thought was the ideal place, since it involves another DS patient who needs some good thoughts sent her way, but was wrong -- so hope someone catches this someplace and reads it and sends a prayer or thought along this woman's way... It could be you or me or anyone. Thank goodness it is not me, but my heart goes out to those with these types of complications. ------------ I hope no one minds if I place a request here for a patient not on this list... Yesterday I went for my 6 month postop appointment with Dr. Crookes and saw someone there who I had met while I was in the hospital in December. I was feeling really cruddy at the time, just having all kinds of problems, and wishing I hadn't had the surgery, when this woman who said she had been there since October with obstruction problems came up to me with a big smile and a hug and told me to hang in there, that it was worth it, and I was going to be healthy again, just wait and have faith... Her name was Maha, and she was really a source of strength while I was there. Anyway, yesterday in the waiting room there she was, and she looked close to death. I don't beat around the bush. She looked really bad. I feel like crying now just remembering how she looked like she just had lost all hope. She had a four legged walker in front of her and was sitting there looking very sickly. I remembered her and went over to tell her I remembered her kindness in the hospital and that I really was cheered by her. She said she was still having problems, that she had *just gotten out* of the hospital after being there for 6 months.... She said they have done four more surgeries and can't figure out what the problem was. Dr. Crookes came along and saw us talking, and came over. He and she started talking and she was even still so loving, so calm, and so -- faithful -- to God -- that I just had to walk away because I wanted her to have her privacy with the doctor and also because I was so moved... Basically after Dr. Crookes left I felt so overwhelmed that I asked her if I could pray for her and she said of course... so I actually laid hands on her and prayed silently for a while. And now I am asking all of you to do the same for someone who really needs it. If you don't pray, please, the positive energy you can muster up and send for someone like you will I know help. I am very worried about this person and she is not, but I don't want to see her get worse or even die, so please... whatever you can do. Thanks, Robin
