Guest guest
Hey Pam ! I am so glad i saw a post from you in here , i have often wondered what happened to you, for some reason i thought you were having surgery in oct and was wondering when.............but now i see nov and i think i remember now you saying that. Your right it almost doesnt seem real, but it will be real ! The things I liked best to have with me, were easy reading magazines, chapstick and nice smelling body spray that you could spritz around your bed and my special fluffy squishy pillow from home with my own pillowcase and its also good to use on the car ride home in front of your tummy. oh and maybe some nice hand lotion like bath and body works shea butter lime coconut lotion.............. You get the idea pamper yourself with things that work for you ! Also take your cell phone if you have it , it beats the cheap bedside phones they have there and you have to reach to the bedside table through the iv cords , cell is better, they may say not to use them but everybody did and no one complained............... I am so excited for you ! if you need any help at all or have questions after you can call me if you need to 446 3091 good luck Colleengranela52 wrote: > > >> > > Just got back from seeing Dr. Fisher (Richmond), I am 5lbs under > > my > > > goal weight, have stop smoking going on 3months, blood pressure > is > > > great, and I am 1 1/4 inches shorter then what I thought I was.> > > > > > Beside all that, My Surgery is set for 11/14, not 11/17 and I > will > > be > > > having Lap instead of Open....> > > > > > I am excited, scared, confuessed, and thanking this support group > > and > > > my family for helping thru this.> > > > > > Luci> > >> >> Colleen
Guest guest
I remember the nerves like it was yesterday. You'll be fine! Just try and relax and take walks and be careful of those snacks. I was sweating bullets when I got on the scale the day of surgery...fortunately I was under by 3 pounds but it was still nerve wracking. Take some Airborne, get lots of rest, fresh air, and exercise and you'll be fine. I know you can do it!!! Hopefully I'll see you tomorrow. Just remember...the nerves are normal. When I got in the car to head down to Richmond for my surgery, a complete calmness came over me. I was calm and relaxed and ready when Dr. Baggs came to see me right before I went on in to the OR. It was great! You'll do great! Tina > > Anyone going to Vacaville on Wednesday for the support group > meeting? > > Pam? Guest guest
Pam E., I have IBS and I still have it, but things effect each person differently. I have improved with the IBS, it's not as bad as it was before. I do know the things that will set it off because we don't eat as much variety, so as I increase some types of food I'm able to track what sets it off. Where as before WLS when you eat many foods just at one setting you might not know what set it off. It is under good control, it may get better as more time passes too. I know my reflux is better, but not gone. My asthma is much better, but not gone. I was able to get off the CPAP machine and I had severe sleep apnea, I was going to get knee replacement and now with so much weight gone it's doing much better (still not great) but livable so that's a wait and see thing. My fybromialgia and arthritis aren't gone, but so much better. I have screws in both feet due to bones breaking and not healing and my feet killed me every night before, now they give me very little trouble. My allergies of course did not go away, and there's more but to tell you the truth, I went from 19 pills and 3 inhalers a day not counting vitamins, to now 3 pills a day and 1 inhaler. I feel so much better and have so much energy and exercise at least 6 out of 7 days a week. I really like not missing a day and I can bare the pain, where before this surgery I could not. So even if things you thought might go away and they don't there is usually much improvement. Guest guest
Ohhhh dont be terrified ! I did not have any cold symptoms prior to surgery but it sounds like a good thing that you saw your regular doctor. As far as i know they just want you to stop taking anything 2-3 weeks or so prior to surgery that could cause bleeding, like aspirin, anti inflammatory medications and blood thinners......................I think you just need to let the pre-op nurse know when you check in that you have had some cold symptoms, and the anthesiologist will usually make the final decision and he or she will most likely listen to your lungs or possibly oder a chest xray the day of sugery, but mostly i think it will go on what they listen to............................. I am thinking the best for you and your family and who is going to post and let us know you did ok ? GO PAM E ! sis boom bah ! rah rah rah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
--- Colleen, Thanks again. I have not taken any aspirin type products for a while now. I also had a slight cold for another surgery, so maybe it will be alright. I might call the advise nurse. Are they available on the weekends? Good luck with your new job, and parenting class! Pam E. All Dr Hahn told me was to quit taking my birth control pills for at least a month berfore surgery. I take narcotic pain meds for neuropathy and I cannot go a day without taking them for the pain is so bad. Guest guest
Jeanne, Not all medications are blood thinners, there are some that you do not have to stop, I was on vicodin until 2 days before surgery. So don't think you have to stop all, there are many that are blood thinners or have estrogen you will have to stop, that's why you'll stop the birth control pill. Don't stop any without talking to Dr Hahn and make sure he tells you how long before your surgery you need to stop.
