Guest guest
Grace also does this a lot. From what we have learned it is a natural reaction to catch yourself when you fall, it cannot be trained. We have learned that Grace falls much more often when she is tired, ill and for a few weeks after illness. During these times we hold her hand when walking anywhere that she can hurt her head if she falls there. At home there is not much we can do, but part her hair a little differently (to hide the bruised forehead). It is very hard watching her smack her little head on the floor so often. We do also think, that sometimes she is trying to catch herself, but her arms cannot hold the weight. Also, we are taking her to an orthopedic doctor on Monday. We have noticed her ankles rolling out a lot, and her pediatrician noticed that she has extremely flat feet. Dr. Cohen has suggested that it is all probably due to a muscle tone issue, and that she will probably need to wear foot/ankle supports. We are all hoping that maybe some of the falling will stop, if she can balance better. Hope this is of some help.
