Guest guest
How does one know which kind of dr to go to when we have so many weird symptoms? , This is a great question. I'm glad you threw this out there. Rheumatologists: body pain, arthritis issues. ENT: Ear, nose and throat--Sinuses. Immunologists: Specialize in auto-immune issues. Cardiologist: Heart issues Gynecologists: Womens gyn issues. Ophthalmologists: Eye issues. Allergists: Asthma, sinus, allergies. Urologists: Bladder and urinary health. Neurologists: Brain, memory, cognition, balance, coordination issues. Peripheral neuropathies and small nerve fiber neuropathies. Primary MD. General health issues, should be willing to refer to you any of the specialists. Pulmonologists: Lung, respiratory, issues. Chiropractor: Whole integrated body imbalances due to spinal issues. Headaches, dizziness- pain in the neck and muscle spasms. Physical medicine MD: Rehabilitation for those who have become bed or wheelchair bound. Physical Therapist: Exercise coordinator with your body limitations in mind-- directed by Primary MD or Physical Medicine or Neurologist or Rheumi. Psychiatrist: Great for Neuropsych issues of memory loss, depression secondary to sarc, pain control and to help with instruction in dealing with living with disability. Dentist: BAD BAD MAN. DO. Doctor of Osteopath. is an MD as well as Osteo--deals with neurological issues, and will often times use chiropractic techniques and naturopathic medicines. Many people like them as a primary MD. Well, gang, is there any more that I missed? Hope it helps, Tracie NS Co-owner/moderator ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
Tracie, Wouldn't it be great if we could have one doc that would do all that? How about a psychorheumointeralcario....you get the drift. Would be a heck a lot cheaper with the copays too. Would be a heck a lot cheaper with the copays too. Boy could we have fun with that one! Actually, in the "old" days-- we used to have one MD that did it all-- they called themself "general" practicioners. (sp) Now no one wants to cross the other "specialists" by stealing the show-- so no one knows crap about any part of the body other than their area of expertise. Reminds me of a joke-- It is better to be a professional than to be an expert. This is because an expert is just a "past drip under pressure." (ex spirt). ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
