In

my opinion it was a hell hole.

Thank you for anyone who tried to contact me. And thanks to

for getting through. My phone got turned on somewhere around the 3rd

day after the nurses station got tired of yielding calls from my

family and friends.

Going to get some much needed rest.

Sondra: So glad to hear you are home. What an ordeal! I realize that,

because of your situation, you didn't have a private aide. But, your

experience strengthens the general belief that there is an absolute NEED for

them if you are at Mt. Sinai. I didn't experience overwhelming pain or

difficulty getting up as you did and I had an aide, so the lack of concern

and response from nurses really didn't affect me extremely. I had to WALK to

the nurses station to 'remind them' about my oral pain meds, though (my IV

blew up the night after my surgery, the evening nurse on duty couldn't

reinsert it so they started me on crushed percocet, which was fine for me).

I mean, if ANYONE has surgery at Mt Sinai, a private aide is pretty much a

necessity. It SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE. The fact that it is will probably cause

many to reconsider and have surgery at another hospital, for sure. But, I'm

just stressing that the private aides I had (not around the clock and once

again I didn't really need them to an extreme degree, so I don't know how

they would be in this case - perhaps someone can add their comments in that

department) were INVALUABLe. :)

Sondra -- You rest up, girlfriend. I wanted to call you and drop some

clothes off -- I'm not sure if they will fit now (or if they are 'just right'

or perhaps too big), but many of them are professional-type stuff that my mom

got for me and I've never really worn. LOL I'll keep in touch.

all the best,
