Hi everyone,

Has anyone tried this buffered vitamin c powder or know if it's legal? I called

the number on the bottle and they told me that it is made from corn but through

the processing that there should be hardly any traces of corn left but there's a

chance there could be some traces of it. So, i'm thinking it's not legal but

just wanted to see if anyone else knew anything about it or has tried it. If

not, can anyone recommend one? Thanks!

It is probably legal. That said, some people are so sensitive to the

grains that it is necessary to seek out a non-corn source Vitamin

C.

I haven't had this problem myself, but I knew one person who was -- she

always said she couldn't tolerate Vitamin C; when I mentioned the corn

source for most Vitamin C, she found a non-corn Vitamin C, and was fine

with it.

Thank you Marilyn! I am very sensitive so i don't think i'll try it. I'll look

for a non-corn source. I had bought it a while back to add to my dog's

food...she has EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency) - we were made for each

other since we have some similar food issues. :) Thanks again!

That's why I phrased it the way I did.

I'm OK with ordinary Vitamin C, myself, but others might not be.

BTW, I should tell you that Shadow and Sunny are firmly of the opinion

that I went SCD for their especial benefit. Ironically, it was finding a

great diet for them that led me to SCD for myself!

Isn't it funny how things happen! Sounds like Shadow and Sunny have a very

healthy and wonderfull diet too! Abby (border collie, chow, lab, boxer mix) was

diagnosed w/EPI in 2006 and from what i learned about her condition really

benefited me when i was diagnosed gluten sensitive in Jan. 2008. When i started

the SCD in Sept. 08 and felt so much better it encouraged me to try her on a

grain-free raw diet in Jan. 09 (which i had been wanting to do but was scared

it'd make her worse and kept putting off learning about it) and she did so much

better on it and she eats nothing but raw with a little bit of dehydrated fruits

and veggies (plus supplements, coconut oil and cod liver oil) and loves it! My

vet was skeptical of the raw at first but agrees now that she should stay on the

raw diet rather than kibble and/or canned food since she's doing much better on

it. The grains and carbs aren't good for her either!
