Guest guest
, I hate this for you Feel better soon. PJ > > > So, I was doing sooo good for the past 5 months on SCD after knocking out a bad 6 month straight flare with steroids. Unfortunatly I had to go back on them this time. I think my flare is due to me getting a cold and eating alot of home made applesauce (very sweet). Last time I got sick I had a mini flare during my cold. Now, worse cold... worse flare to the point I had to go back on some meds I was previously off of! Guest guest
I never get flares anymore and I used to get the 3 month flare more times than I can count. Each flare lessened in duration and severity as my gut healed. I get the occasional D, but it’s a 1 time event. Compare that to 15-20 BD/day and the SCD is nothing short of a miracle for me! Looking back I recall how disappointed I would feel with returning symptoms and flares, so I understand your upset. Trust me, as one who has been where you are now, it does get better. Patience. Our bodies are healing and it is a process. As you know, drop back to intro and ez to digest foods when in a flare. I know it can be boring, but it really helps. I hope you are on the other side of this soon. Carol CD 21 yrs SCD 5 yrs > After being on SCD for years and being med free, do you sometimes get fares? Maybe when you get sick? Eat the wrong food? Guest guest
, I can't remember if I answered this or not, but I've been med free since 1 months into the diet. I only had active Crohn's for about 4 months before I started the diet and conventional meds didn't work for me and my doc said they may be making my symptoms worse so I stopped one month into thet diet and have been med free since. I had digestive problems my whole life my doc said was Crohn's, it just hadn't flared yet. I digress. I've been on the diet 2 years and I had lots of mini flares. Right now, I'm in what I consider a full blown flare from eating an illegal at my company's christmas party. That was Dec. 18. I had some pain, but when I went back to chicken soup, that went away. I still have C really bad, bloating, gas, and lots of digetstive noise (gurgling) at the site where I had my Crohn's originally (terminal illeum (sp?). So, the inflammation is still there, but it's gradually getting better. I'm sleeping again and have small bouts of pain here and there, but for the most part it's gone. Compared to 2 years ago when I found the diet, this " flare " is laughable.
