Guest guest
I never heard ANY doctor get so excited about all the supplements I take. It was POSITIVE excitement too. I did have one PCP briefly that did all sorts of blood levels on me and told me to quit all my supplements because my blood levels were too high. I told her they were prescribed by my mito doc. She said she didn't care and that they were killing me. I killed the relationship with the PCP instead of following her advice. How are you feeling this days? Have you had a full recovery since the gamma knife surgery? Hugs, Barbara Seaman wrote: >Thanks! Guest guest
, We use Fish Oil (Omega 3,6 and 9) for for his ADHD. Sometimes he'll take it on it's own , but sometimes he'll need it with a med too. It does work for Neuro/behavioral type things as well including things like depression from what I've heard. We get ours at Vitamin World. Cindy
Guest guest
They have quite a few choices. My cardiologist also said the flax seed oil and borage seed oil are also good and Puritan's Pride has those also. Guest guest
I remember this thread from a couple of years back I think. I think it was perhaps while you were researching it. I used to work with a gal that her son took it too for the same reason. I'm glad to hear it helps. Oh, the cardiologist said that only deep sea fish, not fish farms get the oil that is beneficial too. I thought that was also interesting too. Tell the kids hi! We hope you are all doing well. & Christie Cindy Hussey wrote: >, > >We use Fish Oil (Omega 3,6 and 9) for for his ADHD. Guest guest
Hi all As to pricing, I've noticed a few tiers. First there's the expensive pharmacy and health-food/supplement stores. Then there are a few more reasonable name-brand pharmacies, and most supplement online stores. Next there are big-box stores, especially Walmart, BJs, etc. Finally there is a bunch of super-discount online stores. Puritan's Pride and Swanson Vitamins (http://www.swansonvitamins.com/) are in that last category. A while ago I did a cost per mg. analysis between PP and SW, because it seemed these two had the VERY best prices (which matters a lot, for some of the more expensive stuff). I compared the largest bottle (in tab count) for (when relevant) the largest dosage per tab, for the cheapest (generic/store-brand) enteric tabs. They don't make it easy, with tab counts like 120 and dosages like 90 mg., but I persevered (with a little help from Excel, and some shopping carts " abandoned in the aisle " ). I found that the latter was routinely cheaper, by 10-20% and rarely, even more. This was true for CoQ10 and acetyl-carnitine, and many other vitamins etc. I also compared something called Pancreatin, which is tough to compare because they list two numbers, an " amount " and an " equivalent amount " . The latter is what counts, it's sort of like the bio-available yield. Confusingly, the companies differ as to which number is in the bold print of the item and which is in the fine print. By the way, Pancreatin is an animal-derived mix of pancreas/digestive enzymes, that has shown some anecdotal promise for MSL, a lipid storage disorder closely linked to other mito. The benefit seems to relate to the fatty-acid accumulation, notably in liver but typical also in pancreas, that may contribute to making things worse and/or generate new symptoms. I have only ordered once, without incident, from PP. As to SW, I once had an order screw-up, where a " second bottle for one cent " deal didn't go through, AND the shipping exceeded, by about a buck, their reasonable $4.95 fixed advertised amount. I complained by email and they immediately apologized and bent over backwards to fix the first problem and also ship it for free (despite their explanation that the shipping offer was correct and explicit). This is NOT AN AD, I don't work for them or get a kickback or anything, honest. Guest guest
Here is a Mayo Site on Omega 3 fish oils. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fish-oil/NS_patient-fishoil This is an excellant site, and it recommends that you take at least 2 grams of fish oil, and also add Vit E. The study shows significant triglyceride lowering effects, and this is important. Your DC should be a good source on these supplements, and will be able to guide you as to the dosage. I'd follow her advice. Thanks, Tracie************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
