Guest guest
I found something at costco. It's the Kirkland Low-Sodium Bacon. Looking at the ingredients, it says there are no sugars in the ingredients list. On the non-low-sodium bacon of the same brand, it IS listed in the ingredients. Would this mean that the low-sodium stuff is good for my BLT's? Anyone looked into this?
Guest guest
You'd have to list the ingredients. I don't know if I've seen Costco's bacon. I found something at costco. Guest guest
That should be legal. Some low sodium brands of bacon have no sugar, only salt, sodium nitrite, sodium erthryorbate(sp?) and some other preservative. If that's what's listed on the ingredients then you're good to go to have as much as you want. If you can't find low sodium or bacon with no sugar, you're allowed once per week fried very crisp.-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 7 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 5 pills a day To: BTVC-SCD From: texdebl@...Date: Sat, 9 Jan 2010 19:03:11 -0600Subject: Re: SCD legal Bacon?? Guest guest
I do not know about Kirkland brand specifically, but a quick check to see if there is a carb listing will tell you if there are illegals. If it lists any amount, then it has illegals because pure protein (ie. meats) do not have carbs in them. Another thing to keep in mind is that if it is low sodium (salt to cure/preserve) then they most likely have added sugar as a replacement (it is also a cure/preservative). I also have these brands listed as ok: Gwaltney's Low Sodium Hog Wild I think I may have them written down from the pecanbread list serve. -Joanna > > > > I found something at costco. Guest guest
I just discovered that my farmer can provide bacon made with honey powder. There is also no nitrates or additives other than salt, honey powder, cinnamon and clove. I think that is legal! Finally! Judy > > > > > > > I found something at costco.
