Guest guest
Hi Deb Are you sure you are hungry and not just thirsty? A lot times it could be just that you need to get more water in. You should first try drinking some water then waiting for a bit. We go through three types of hunger after surgery there is the physical hunger, then the head hunger and the heart hunger. So you before you start eating more you need to examine and try to figure out whether you are truly hungry. Ramona

Guest guest
Those soft foods never really made me " full " either. Once you get to start adding some real food back in (like eggs, etc.) you'll get that full feeling. For now, just keep it up, drink your fluids, and know that once you get to eat more dense protein foods, you'll get full! Tina > > Hi > I had my surgery last Monday 10/3/05. Guest guest
Deb, do you have " hunger pains " or do you simply not feel full or satisfied. Guest guest
Deb, I wasn't really hungry, but I craved different foods. So instead of just water I had sugar free popsicles, broth and diet snapple (with no tea), these counted as water but gave me something to taste other than plain water. It all gets better with time. I had orientation in Nov 2004, had surgery April 11th, I'm 6 months post op. I started at 270 and I'm down to goal I'm 143 now. So keep on track and just change things so they don't mess up your meals, water and make sure you get you exercise. Walking getting away from the house always took my mind of food. Good Luck. Guest guest
Deb, Are you getting in your fluids all of them ? Are you drinking a protein drink ? Do you feel more physically hungry than mentally ? Sorry so many questions. Are you having popsicles for liquid also, that is a nice treat in between a meal? Let me know.... I don't drink any caffeine, I gave it all up since orientation and I find the weight has come off a lot easier. Guest guest
The most calories I have seen in one is 12.5 calories for the entire bottle. They are very tasty. I like the diet peach tea best - but I don't think I ever checked about the caffeine. Guest guest
Does even a minimal amount of caffiene make you not loose? Yeah, it's funny, I go in cycles with stuff like that. There are times when I REALLY like it, and times when it's too darn sweet and I have to cut it with water. I tend to stock it, the " Slenderize " Fuse drinks, some of the NoCarb Arizona Teas, the Talking Rain drinks, etc. That way, I have whatever pouchie decides he wants THIS time. -- Eleanor Oster eleanor@... Guest guest
At Richmond they told us to give up all caffeine at our orientation as well as starting the 1200 calorie meal plan. It worked with me, I did everything they said. Donnatopazmisskitty wrote: Does even a minimal amount of caffiene make you not loose? Guest guest
Varying points of view on this. I know a lot of long-term posties who do drink caffeine. You will need to eliminate it before surgery though. I STRONGLY recommend you not quit cold turkey though, unless you LIKE migraines from caffeine withdrawal. What I did was start cutting my coffee with decaf, slowly increasing the amount of decaf, decreasing the leaded, until I was completely off the caffeine. You would also be well advised to wait a few months post-op before starting up again. Best way to think of it is to treat your new pouch like a little baby tummy. You wouldn't give coffee to a newborn, would you? topazmisskitty wrote: > Does even a minimal amount of caffiene make you not loose? Guest guest
Eleanor, I agree take it slow coming off, but my advice is don't go back. Caffeine makes you feel better for a short time, then as it wears off you are craving more or hungry when it's not time to eat, so if you kick it try to keep it that way. After time you won't need it, you extra energy will come from weight lose, eating right, drinking plenty of good drinks for you, and exercising. Keep up the good work.
