Guest guest
So 2 weeks ago, DH had a few days in a row where he felt really good. Well, maybe too good since he didn't barely go to the bathroom at all. Then, all of a sudden he felt awful for 2 days and was in the bathroom all day. THen he felt good again for another few day (also barely pooped), and again had a bad 2 days after that. The first time I thought is was caused by some blueberries he ate which was a new food for him. But this last time he ate nothing different. Has anyone ever had a pattern like this? Is this normal? Thanks!
Guest guest
How long has he been on SCD? It might be die-off or healing phases, if you haven't identified any food or supplement connection. Sometimes our bodies just get off-kilter even though you're eating the same foods, part of detoxing and die-off and healing. These symptom flares occurred frequently (perhaps 2 or 3 times a month) during my first 18 months on SCD. If you haven't considered supplements, then I'd check those too. 75% of my symptom flares are triggered by a supplement [big sigh]. Actually I consider everything I've swallowed in the past 3 days before a symptom flare -- and I also recall whether I've been stressed or particularly active physically. All cause digestive issues for me. It doesn't happen as often these days, after six years on SCD. But it still happens, so I consider it normal for me with my dysfunctional digestive system. Kim M. Guest guest
Do you keep a food diary? I would add a new food only every 2 or 3 weeks. Start small, like 1 tablespoon, wait 2 or 3 days, then increase to 2, wait and if there are no symptoms, you (or DH) are safe to eat this new food. This way, you will know what is causing this issue. Sometimes, it can take up to 2 weeks before you can see a reaction. Write down in your diary what new food you have added are what are the symptoms to this new food. Good luck, SCD 21 mths weird pattern So 2 weeks ago, DH had a few days in a row where he felt really good. Well, maybe too good since he didn't barely go to the bathroom at all. Guest guest
Yes! And I hate it! When I'm beginning to get over a flare I'll be constipated for a couple days then feel pretty bad and flare for a day then the C will start up again. It's extraordinarily frustrating! And actually the D is a lot more comfortable for me than the C. That sounds weird but 1. I'm used to the D (I have UC) and 2. when I'm experiencing the C it just feels like I'm getting a toxic build up in my system. Drinking diluted pear juice helped me regulate my system a little more. I just assumed that I was suffering from the C because after the flare there was nothing left in me and for some reason my system is trying to keep everything in I hope he feels better!
