Suzy,

I actually first injured my discs in 2000 in February and the doctor

said well just rest for 6 weeks in bed and they'll heal :o with no

MRI or anything. Well in the summer of 2002 I herniated the last of

the 3 discs and at that point I went to an orthopedic surgeon who did

an MRI the 2 that I first herniated in 2000 were bone on bone

deginerated, and the third was just a normal herniation, mine were

L3, L4, and L5 and my spine is now fused from L2 through S1. I didn't

have surgery until November of 2002 which was less than a year ago.

I'm doing great now, but as your doc will tell you the surgery

doesn't always eleviate the pain. I had herniations to both the left

and right side of my spine which were pinching my sciatic nerve down

both legs, I experienced a lot of numbness and shooting pains down my

hips and legs, not to mention the pain in my back. Surgery was my

only option for any relief. I wish you well and if you have any

questions I'd be glad to answer any about the surgery or recovery

time. If I don't know the answer I'll find it or help you find it. Be

very descriptive to your Orthopedic Surgeon and if he doesn't

recommend an MRI then you specifically request one. A herniated disc

cannot be properly diagnosed w/o one.

I'll be praying for you Suzy I do know that pain!!!

vocal coaches don't know the medical aspect enough to know. they'll all tell

you that. i even made an appointment with the vanderbilt voice center that

has specialists dealing with vocalists. they don't even know because they've

never seen a singer with orthognathic surgery.

That is really surprising. I thought there were experts for every

question. And I'm not sure yet that there isn't one for this, but it

may take some doing to find him or her.

Good luck. It would be perfect, I reckon, if you could find an ortho

and or surgeon who is himself or herself a singer.

Hi -

I am so sorry to hear about your husband ! That just had to of been so scarey for you and still scarey with the stents and all. My blessings and good thoughts go out to you and your family ! Its still good he quit smoking !

I can not help you on the sleep apnea thing, i was tested for it and to this day i never got my results...................i tried several times and no one could ever give me an answer, i would call the clinic where i had it done they would say call your pcp, then i would call the pcp and he would say you have to call the clinic where it was done.............so when my pre surgery consult came up, i just said i didnt have it , because nobody told me i did and i was already approved for the WLS with my diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol...........I was 8 months post op yesterday and i am doing great ! Hope your doing ok with all this activity that has crept up upon you ! We are almost neighbors perhaps, I am in Vacaville and your husband was in the hospital in Napa ? QVH is a good hospital i think............or i have always heard that .................. take care and keep your sunny side up

Oh gosh . I'm so sorry to hear about your husband! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. As for the sleep apnea thing, I can't help you there. My comorbid conditions were elevated heart rate (which they thought was high blood pressure) and lower back issues. I had a sleep study done but it didn't show anything significant. I'm sure someone else will chime in here that has/had sleep apnea and be able to give you some good feedback.Take care!Tina>> Lets see, my husband had a heart attack on Saturday, was flown by helicopter to Queen of the Valley Hospital. He had a cath done, and is doing much better. We believe he'll come home tomorrow. Also surgery for 3 stints (?) in about a month. By

Proud of you, except drop the 6 fries, you don't need them and 6 will lead to 7 on and on. Your doing great, keep up the good work. Donna Diane Duenas wrote:

Hi wow sounds like things are turning around for you ! so glad to hear that you deserve good things and you do work hard, and we are all human, i know i slip off the path or right things by occasionally making bad choices, but i notice that i guilt myself about it way more than i did prior to surgery and thats a good thing.............at least i am aware when i make a bad choice and i ponder the consequences....................like they say we didnt have brain surgery but heck sometimes i feel like i did cause my brain does think different LOL colleen Mouat wrote: That's fantastic, !!! Hi ! Well "YOU" do get it. It does make a difference at least to me to still be friends with this person that I have been on this journey with. We had a great time visiting and much too short, although we did spend the night up near Shonda's where she was able through family to get us a great room at the Hilton Gardens for a pittance of what the rooms usually are, we had to leave in the morning early to get home in time to prepare for ten for dinner for my daughters birthday party which happens to be the same day as my Re-Birthday.............It was important to me to do something on the actual day later on the week before or after is ok, but this year i wanted it on the actual day ! We had a great visit and so much to talk about , I need to try to get up that way more often................... I did loose at the casino up there but just played for a little while it was fun and mostly the reunion was fun , Shonda and I are both Lucky we

have such great husbands who go with the flow with us....................I really do thank them both ! Thanks for getting it Colleen wrote: Wow: What a great story.
