Guest guest
Any one have side effects from drinking barium sulfate for a CAT scan? How long do these effects typically last? (I think this was addressed recently, but can't find the post -- sorry.) I had a CT done Wed am, so I drank a gob of barium the night before and first thing that morning. It didn't seem to bother me much at first, but I've had increasingly severe cramps since and last night a stomach ache that woke me up. I also just restarted eating homemade goat's milk yogurt on Friday, 1 TBS per day, so that could be a factor, or maybe both are contributing? (This is all the more aggravating because I let a new GI push me into getting the CT even though I had one 3 years ago that was negative. I should've stood up to him or just walked out.) tom ibs (unofficial) 3 yrs
Guest guest
It always takes my intestinal tract about 5 to 7 days to recover from a barium swallow. Lots of cramping throughout my digestive tract, lots of nausea. Also tends to cause more constipation than usual, so I'm always very glad when my body finally gets rid of the stuff. Kim M.
