I realize I don't post much, but 'seeing' this

post, I'd like to jump in. I was treated with

Prednisone for th N-Sarc from 1995 until

mid-1999. My instance of N-Sarc had also affected

my eyes - resulted in retinal scarring. In August

1996 I had a retinal vitrectomy done on my left

eye (scar tissue removed from retina) - this

dramatically improved my eyesight in that eye. I

am now scheduled to have cataract surgery done on

my left eye (same eye that had vitrevtomy 11 yrs

ago). My cataract did not begin to worsen until

around 2004 - 2005 - 5 to 6 years after I sropped

Prednisone. The surgeon who is doing my surgery (

a surgeon in Hamilton Ontario) has said to me

that, yes, Prednisone does cause cataracts, and

that over the past few decades, cataract surgery

has been among the safest and more successful

procedures.

I am looking forward to (after) my surgery, and

being able to see clearly again. It'll be nice to

read food labels agin without having to place the

package 2mm in front of my face just to see whats

in the ingredients.

I wish you all the best ...

Hi, Mike. Good luck with your surgery. I was certainly pleased with mine. Sorry I missed you Thurs. night; you must have left before I got there. We get together one of these times!
