Hi All,

I am hoping to get the DS through Dr. A with Aetna Open Choice PPO;

however, I would like to start research on self pay (just in case).

USC is NOT an alternative for self pay, so I am looking to get cost

information on other DS doctors. Since I plan to self pay I would

prefer to have the surgery done laprascopically. Can anybody give me

info on the ALL of the costs (including the hospital bill) for self

pay of any of the following Dr's:

Dr. Rabkin/Jossart

Dr. Keshishian

Dr. Hess

Dr. Emma

Any other Dr. doing lap DS

You can either post the info or send to my private e-mail

(chull1@...).

Thanks,

Hull

This is what's on my paperwork:

Rabkin:

Distal GB $6400.00

Parietal Gastrectomy $1562.00

Cholecystectomy $1270.00

Jossart:

Distal GB $1280.00

Parietal Gastrectomy $312.00

Cholecystectomy $254.00

There was not a breakdown of what the hospital stay would cost. But

my letter did reference a 4 to 5 day stay at California Pacific

Medical Center, San Fransisco, CA.

Hope this helps ya.

Take care.

Liz

Liz,

Your fees seem to add up to the $11,000 that I have heard the

Rabkin/Jossart charge. I suspect that the does NOT include the

hospital charge. When was your sugerey? My wife has had several

surgeries (including 1 barriatric) and the hospital has a tendency to

bill separately. I have heard horrer stories of USC bill up to

$100,000! On the other hand, some Dr. have worked out deals with the

hospital (e.g. Dr. Fobi did) to consolidate their costs.

Did you compleatly self pay or have insurance?

Thanks,

Chris
