Suzanne, I take all of the girls' pills and crush them and mix it with the

contents of the capsules. I mix both with the Carnitor and give it to them

through a medicine syringe. I know it tastes disgusting but, the girls are

very very good about taking it. I usually give them a chaser of juice.

The only way I've been able to get the B1 into Sheldon is to

crush it and put it in a mouthful (not more, I only get one chance) of

chocolate syrup. It's worked for a couple of weeks now.

Is there a good way to

administer the contents of the capsule of a 100mg. B1 capsule to a 2

year old. She eats some solids and liquidsŠI just wondered what the

best solution might be?? Any advice would be appreciated.

I do the same thing. I have a daughter who is six years old and this is

the only way she gets her cocktail. I bought a small mortar and pestle

(sp?) and recrush up the capsules to make sure everything is finely

ground and mix it with the carnitor. It looks awful and I squeeze the

contents in to the pouch of her cheek. and close her mouth. I do a

little at a time so she has time to swallow the stuff. It comes out to

be alittle more than a teaspoon that she is taking this way. Leah will

shake her head when she sees me coming with the syringe. And she has

tried to turn away, but in the end she takes it without spitting it out.

You can purchase oral syringes at your local pharmacy. We can reuse

the syringes about 5 times before we need to use a new one. So a bag of

100 lasts a long time and I believe it only cost us about $10 for the

bag; may be even less.
