Guest guest
After six years of an immense struggle I am considering Low Dose Naltrexone. I don't know if I'll be able to get it here in Jamaica but I think it would be a good compliment to my diet. I have followed the diet as best as I can, financial constraints and temptations aside. Even if I have strayed it would only be in a situation where I've had no choice. My father is not the most considerate and is not interested in ensuring I have SCD legal food on hand so in that respect it's only my mother and I. I would like to know from anyone who has first hand experience with this drug. My diarrhea has never stopped and is probably more severe than most. I weigh 105 lbs, that's all and at 6'0 is not very good. Anyway I am exploring possibly asking my doctor about it and have some concerns about whether it will make me have sleep disturbances which I cannot afford with my school schedule or make me dumber in some way (lol). Thanks in advance. Llemar Jamaica CD 6 years SCD 2005-6 restarted March 2008

I've found it is VERY helpful along with the diet, as have many others. If your doctor is leery of it or you can't get it there, you can order it without Rx from All Day Chemist (which is a reputable company that many LDN takers have used/do use; it's in India). You get 50 mg tablets, dissolve one at a time in a measured amount of distilled water, then take whatever dose you want to start at, possibly 3 ml. (I or Mara or anybody else who's familiar with it can tell you more about that later, if you need the info.) LDN may initially cause sleep disturbances. It did with me but it certainly doesn't for everybody. I guess statisically, it's a minority of people who get sleep distrubances from LDN. If you're one of those, it's possible that at first you'd be awake for a while in the middle of the night at first. That is hard to take when you have a specific schedule, but it does subside as your body adjusts to the LDN. And it's so worth it to take it, and the condition is temporary, that it's something you just have to force yourself to get through -- like some of the initial die-off, etc., with the diet.Incidentally, not only has LDN helped my Crohn's, it has been very helpful in drastically reducing my asthma symptoms, my joint pain from arthritis and my allergies in general -- because it gets your body to better regulate your immune system. n -- Now available. Guest guest
Thanks for the reassurance. I am a man of action and as my friend has done I will beat Crohn's. I'll definitely discuss it with my mother. If it does cause me sleep disturbances it might not be that bad considering I stay up late to study. Math and Economics is a wicked duo, love it though. Guest guest
I had sleep disturbances when I started LDN and they were pretty bad the first week. But only the first week and then apparently I adjusted. I still wake sometimes about four hours after I take the LDN but I get on back to sleep most nights fairlye easily. Of course you don't want to do anything to endanger your studies, but one thing to consider would be to start it during a vacation so you had more time off in case. The pharmacist where I get my LDN says relatively few people have complained to him about this. Good luck. LDN helps so many things for so many of us I would think it's worth pursuing.
