Guest guest
Hi everyone, In regard to BC not paying for weight loss surgery; I called my BC PPO office and they said they do pay with certain criteria met (over 100 lbs overweight, previous weight loss attempts). They also said that they have a panel that reviews each case. So I guess what I'm saying is that the best thing for anyone who is concerned, is to call their insurance company, and they'll let you know for sure. Good luck to us all! (BCBS of Alabama) does pay for gastric bypass, but not the DS. They will pay for RNY, which isn't the best surgery for my situation. Guest guest
BE CAREFUL! What they tell you on the telephone is generally much much different than what they do in real life.....just be cautious. Unfortunately, some insurance companies are more forthcoming than others. I DID call mine and was told to have my doctor submit the letter. They wouldn't tell me any more than that, and I even got my DH's company ins. person involved. So the doctor did submit and I was denied. I called prior to receiving the letter and they wouldn't tell me anything except that a letter was coming. Why do they do this??? I have put on more weight since last month and now am finding it harder and harder to do most anything. I am beginning to think about the new adjustable band; at least I could lose some weight while still fighting for the DS. --stella
Guest guest
Chelly, Have you looked into hiring the guy that is a lawyer that is a member of this group? I don't know if that would help or not, but it is worth a try, I guess. Genell BCBS is my insurance also. I am not to the point of getting approval yet.
