Ayesha,

Maybe it's just me but I am always sceptical when someone says " free " .

We had DNA testing for one particular mutation. They tested my son

with the insurance paying for it. They tested my husband, my other

son and myself only because the doctor who read the DNA was

interested. If he was not interested they would not have tested the

rest of the family as they said they could not do anything about our

gene problem anyway. They would not test any of my or my husband's

siblings.

When they did the testing on us it was only for that one place. They

did not test the whole DNA as they said it was too complex. If they

knew what defect your daughter had they could check you for it as well

but they would not know if that was the only place that caused her to

have all the symptoms. If this is free, why can't you send blood and

not yourself?
