I have not been weighing myself because I gained almost 100 pounds when I was not allowed out of bed in the hospital for almost one year. I was very protein deficient and had to drink this fruit flavored protein drink which was delicious cold. Only problem is that each container was 250 calories and I was suppose to drink 6 of them a day.Well I finely was able to stand on my digital scale this morning. I have lost 33 pounds since the end of last June. I am trying to eat healthy with lots of fresh things to eat.So I have been smiling all day. We all need a bright spot once in a while. Some other good news my grandaughter who just turned 11, swims competively. She has been swimming for about 6 years. She had Junior Olympic times but unfortunately she had a birthday the day before the event so she moved from the 10 and under to 12 and under.Well her dad has been talking to her about her breast stroke and back strokes. This last weekend was a USA swimming competition. Because of my husband just getting out of the hospital we did not atttend the meet. That little bugger took 24 seconds off her 100 meter breast stroke, andshe also took 11 seconds off her 100 meter back stroke. Two weeks ago her swim team had a banquet. I couldn't figure out how they were doing things. But it was really nice, the coaches would call up a swimmer and tell something that the swimmer was really good at.It turned out they were calling up people according to how they ranked on the team. to my surprise was #3 of the top 5 swimmers.Well enough of my braging, thank you for patiently listening.Judy in PA

Judy, How wonderfulit is to get rid of extra weight. I know that when I was on 80 mg of pred., it took me a year to wean off of it, and another year to loose the weight. I have also gained about 20 pounds over this last winter, and now I need to loose some more weight again. It is getting nice outside, so now I can start taking walks with my dog. Also , great news about your niece, tell her to keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing good news. We can all use a little of that some times too. Good for you with the losing weight. It does make you feel so much better. I had lost 20 lbs after wening down from the steroids but, had to get back on them and now i see myself starting to wake up in the middle of the night again to setroid hunger. I am still waging the battle but, and trying not to gain those 20 pounds back. So, i believe most of us understand the battle between staying well and gaining that weight. When we hear a sucess story like yours it inspires us to hang in there. Also, good for the little swimmer in you life. I love to swim but, i can't swim like that. It is always good to hear about young people having sucess. It gives them the confidence and the tools to suceed. Judy,

This is such a bright spot for both you and your granddaughter! It is so special to see the kids excell! You can never give them enough recognition for working hard --whether they win or not. My motto has always been "Set your expectations high-- your kids want to live up to them!" It has worked around here---- and continues to work even now that Tor is a 24 yo man.

Blessings,
