Guest guest
I know that mixed nuts are illegal, because they are often roasted in starch. What about cashews that are roasted? Meijer sells their own brand of roasted cashews, and I'm wondering if those would be legal if no illegals are listed on the ingredients list. Also, we have a Fresh Market store here that has grinders where you can grind your own nut butter. I checked the ingredients on the machines, and they say dry roasted almonds (peanuts) and no preservatives. Do you think those are legal? Thanks, Amber

Amber, I don't know about the Meijer's stuff because we don't have Meijers. However, I have used the Fresh Market peanut butter without a problem. Do note that because peanuts are a legume, not a true nut, some people will have issues with them at the outset. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
What is your opinion of the nutbutter bars like at some of the Whole Foods? There is a Randall's (Safeway) here that has a large amount of nuts separately in the bins but you can grind them into whatever nutbutter you want at a central location. Ok if you aren't worried about legumes or nuts being mixed? Debbie 40 cd On Thu, Jan 14, 2010 at 1:43 PM, Wizop Marilyn L. Ok if you aren't worried about legumes or nuts being mixed? I legitimately don't know. It would depend on whether or not the machines are cleaned between grindings. You could get some serious cross-contamination issues, and be getting inadvertent illegals, depending on who had ground what ahead of you. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
