Guest guest
Tracie, I read an article in the AARP magazine today that was pretty interesting. It seems that the biological meds have been exempt from losing their patents, thus allowing development of generics, which is what has kept the cost so exorbitant. Now some congressional reps are looking into the situation; of course, the big drug companies are having a fit. Will be interesting to follow. Guest guest
I'll have to get a copy of the magazine. I hadn't heard of Remicade going generic-- as it's only been around for about 7 yrs or so. I can't remember how long it is before the patent expires- and they can make a generic. I'm just really really grateful that my insurance covers it-- I have a $90 copay for the drug each 3 months, so- $30 a month, plus the infusion fees. Medicare and UHC cover most of that.
