Guest guest
Pam, The pills are small they won't get stuck in the opening so you can take them whole. If you take more than one then take them one at a time. Ramona
Guest guest
--- Donna, Thanks, I am doing a lot better.I even went out to Costco but had to go back to the car after a while because I think I was overdoing it. I wanted to know if anyone takes Wellbutrin cut up into small pieces. I tried smashing it but it tastes pretty bitter. I just got some liquid Prozac so I am going to try that. I also wanted to know about how much weight should I expect to lose in the first couple of weeks. I did gain some weight from all the I-V liquids they give you in the hospital, and I have since lost that weight but not really any more. Maybe I am expecting too much. Pam E. Guest guest
Yippee Pam E! Welcome to the other side. Be careful not to overdo it early on. You will tire easily for quite some time. I had my 6 month appointment with Dr. Baggs today and I asked him if it was normal to still get fatigued and he said " yep, it's completely normal " . I was surprised but glad (because I can get quite tuckered). The weight will come off...try and not have " expectations " of how quickly and how much weight you will lose. Just do what you are suppose to do and you'll be surprised how quickly the scale starts moving down. My weight has definitely slowed down but at first I was losing 5-7 pounds a week. I've lost 85 pounds in 5-1/2 months. I still have 50 pounds to go to get to my goal of 160 pounds. Take lots of mini walks, drink as much as you can, get in your protein, and take lots of rests...the weight loss will come (and quickly too). Guest guest
--- Tina, I am so glad to hear from you! Wow, 85 pounds! I can't believe it! It just seems like yesterday that I saw you at the Vacaville meeting a few days after your WL operation. You have really done well. Didn't you start a new job, too? Yes, I'll try not to have expectations, but it is hard. My lap incisions seem fine, but I have some bruises across my stomach. Is that normal? Pam E. Guest guest
Bruises are certainly normal. I believe I had some too and I was in lots of pain from moving around too much at the hospital. I was on the drip at the hospital so I didn't notice I was doing too much until I got home and all my muscles in my gut hurt. I got some diazepam prescribed and that muscle relaxer helped. In fact, I fell asleep eating a popsicle it worked so well! LOL! I know how hard it is not to have expectations. I've set myself up (for failure) several times by having expectations and then being disappointed/depressed when I didn't meet them (like being under 200 pounds by the time I saw Dr. Baggs at my 6 month appointment). It's hard not to compare ourselves to others. Our bodies are all different. Even when the scale hasn't moved much in a month, my clothes are fitting much different (and sometimes going down a complete size). Take pictures monthly (which I have to say I haven't done), measurements monthly, and weigh weekly. You'll be pleasantly surprised and excited by all the changes. If you need anything, let me know! Hopefully I'll see you in Vacaville for the December meeting? Tina > > > > > > > > Pam > > > > I hope you're doing okay, and that your pain is better. Guest guest
Kristie -- Everyone's weight loss varies so much. You are doing fantastic!! If I average my 85 pound weight loss over the 25 weeks since I had surgery, I " averaged " about 3.5 pounds a week. Some weeks, of course, were more and some were less or not at all. Just keep doing what you are doing. You are doing fantastic!! Tina > > Monday will be my sixth week and I am losing anywhere from 1.5 - 3 lbs a week is this about normal. Guest guest
Pam E. Glad you're getting out, just don't over do. I gained 10 pounds from the fluid in the hospital, I didn't lose until the second week. Then it was only 2 pounds, then the 3rd week was 4 pounds and the weight really started coming off fast. Just eat what you're suppose to, walk and get out every chance you can and take your vitamins and really sip sip sip so you get your water, that really helps the weight come off also. Take care, good to hear from you. Guest guest
Tina Congratulations you are doing great. I would get really tuckered up until 5 months, then I felt really good for a few weeks, then started getting tuckered again. At my 6 months I found out I had anemia, and had to up my iron to 2 pills a day one early day and one later in the day, feel good again, now I'm 7 months as of Friday and I did new labs Friday so we will see. Dr Baggs told me that we can get tuckere up to a year, 6 months to a year depending on the person. So we just have to keep going any ways, especially once people go back to work. Every thing gets easier with time and our bodies just have to get us to all the changes it's going through. Take care and keep up the good work. DonnaTina wrote: Yippee Pam E! Guest guest
Pam E. I also had bruises, it's just the way the doctor has to pull and push on you will you're getting worked on. I bruise easy, so I did with surgery. Donnagranela52 wrote: --- Tina,I am so glad to hear from you! Wow, 85 pounds! I can't believe it! Guest guest
Kristie No one is the same, so if your eating right, exercising, taking your vitamins and drinking your water, then you are doing fine. Every ones body handles the weight lose journey a little different. So just stay on track and you'll be fine. If your not doing all of the above you need to, if you are then it's just the way your body is working. Hang in there. Guest guest
Donna, Thanks yep I am doing everything right. I am eating right, exercising, and getting as much water in as I can. Yesterday I walked across town up and over the overpass and then walked home. I walked to my friends house and I called her before I left said I was going to go to her house but if I couldnt make it home would she drive me. I walked to her house (1 hour ) and then I visited for an hour and then walked home (1 hour). I have already gotten up this morning and walked but I only walked a mile legs were a little sore from yesterday. Thanks for the input.
