On Monday evening, September 20, 2004, we have a special guest expertjoining us in the Mitochondrial Chat, thus we will be using the following chat format.

Please read the instructions and copy them if necessary.

As you enter the room, you will be given a number which will beopenly given on the chat site. That number is sequential thus in theorder you entered. When your number comes up, you may ask onequestion and only one question will be open for the doctor at atime. When he has completed answering the question the next personin the sequential order will be allowed to post their question. Youwill be notified by private message when it is your turn to ask yourquestion just prior to the time to post it. You might find ithelpful to have pre-posted the question in preparation for enteringbut be very careful not to hit the send key until you have beengiven clearance to do so. Please post your question in ALL CAPS asthis will help Dr. Cohen recognize each new question. In this case -it will not be considered shouting. When our guest has completedanswering the question he will post a "?" to let us know that heis ready for the next question to be asked. We may ask you to log out

and back in as a guest after your question is answered if there the room

is full to allow those who are waiting the opportunity to join the chat. If

you have a second question, it will also be necessary to log out and in again

and be given a new number for your next question. This is why it's very

important to think carefully about the question you wish to ask so that you

can get your complete answer after your original post.

Please reserve this chat for questions to be asked of our guestonly. It is a very special gift of time and expertise that the guestis offering us and we should remember to treat our guest with respect.

If you wish to chat with someone in the room, please go to the private chatand communicate. Anyone who violates the instructions will receive awarning. If a second warning is necessary, the person will losetheir privilege to be in the chat and will be removed. We hope thatwe don't find it necessary to do this.

The chat transcript will be available on the MDA website as soon asit has been edited by Dr. Cohen and the MDA Chat Administrator.Sometimes this takes a considerable amount of time as theseindividuals are very busy. We ask for your patience while this isbeing prepared. We are very happy you have joined us tonight andhope you enjoy this special chat session.
