Guest guest
It always takes me at least 3 days to respond to an antibiotic. I don't know if it's mito related though, or just the norm for me.
Guest guest
Myst max was diagnosed with an ear infection last friday in right ear...put on augmentin...saturday it was in left ear...sunday she strted running temp of 103...monday was admitted with pneumonia...the augmentin did not do much for her we are back out of the hospital and now on oral bactrim. this seem to work better. don't know if this answers your question , but yes, we have seen that max does not respond well to some antibiotics. augmentin used to work just fine. regards rosy, mum to max

Rosy & all, Chelsea is usually put on Ceftin when she starts showing signs of an infection. Her ped likes this one because it covers a wider variety of bacteria than Augmentin or Zithromax. It is stronger, but Chelsea always responds well to it. Another FYI, CHelsea was put on Zithromax last Nov fro an ear inf. by her pulmonologists NP. She had a severe seizure reaction to it, and was immediatly taken off and put on Ceftin. Chelsea has taken Zithromax way back when, and did not react to it that I remember, and I am not sure why she did this time. Chelsea does not have mito, but still has metabolic issues related to Rett Syndrome. HTH e, CHelsea's mom, Atypical Rett Syndrome (FKA nonspecific mito)
Guest guest
Abigail has had a chest cold for 17 days. She did not develop a temp until yesterday...we took her to the doctor and she has a double ear infection. Today her temp went to 101.0 We are praying that the temp resolves by this evening. Abigail always begins a huge crisis with a temp of 100.0 or more...sadly it only has to be going for a day before everything goes all pear shaped. This is her first ear infection is well over a year. Does anyone know if mito kids are a little slower to respon to antibios than other kids? Thx, Myst
Guest guest
-Antibiotics won't work for a cold for anyone. Colds are caused by viruses and antibiotics don't work for them.
