Guest guest
Okay, I know this could be considered a old wives tale, BUT....try drinking cranberry juice (don't go off your meds) and/or take cranberry extract tablets. I have had my share of urinary tract infections and honestly (or I guess I should say IMO) that helped so much. I still took my meds, but I found that the pain went away much faster for me while the meds cleared it up. :-) M Palmer (Phone) (Fax) kpalmer@... > Urinary tract infections > > I am seeking some information on urinary tract infections. Guest guest
Ask for a referral to a urologist.. you may have a urethral stricture or something. I have a congenital stricture that caused me to have problems for years, & I was always put on Bactrim until this last one. Bactrim is inexpensive ans effective, but because some people are sensitive to sulfas its not used as often. My advice would be the urology consult first- there may be something causing these repeat infections. Best Luck- Hugs, Liane > I am seeking some information on urinary tract infections. Guest guest
I don't know if it's true or not...but a friend of mine that had the RNY was having re-occuring UTI's too. She was told that an overindulgence of calcium in tablet form could settle in the bladder and cause troubles. She told her doc that she was taking the most absorbable form (citrate, not carbonate) and her doc said since some of that type still isn't being absorbed in the body, it could settle in the bladder anyway, but increasing fluid intake *could* help aleviate the problem. She was also told to try to ingest most of her calcium thru food sources for a while and see if it lets up any. So far, so good. Guest guest
Also, there are cranbury vitamins that if you take daily 2 times a day should help you avoid urinary tract infections. Hope this helps. Ellen(Pam
