I actually had no back pain from walking at 1 week post-op. I no longer need to use a shopping cart in the grocery store to lean on. I can walk, and do everyday!. Your BMI is only 36 and you are pre-op?? >> Jill: I've noticed a marked decrease in back pain (and joint pain!) when I walk now. I was always a walker and did at least a mile or two at a time but I did suffer from nasty sciatica and joint pain. I even lugged at least 10 bags of heavy groceries up to the second floor without getting winded (this was after a 2 mile jaunt in the hot sun with a double stroller)! By no means am I triathalon material (although I've noticed a few people doing marathons and stuff - you go girls!!! LOL), but I sure have noticed a marked difference in my energy level and stamina. Ain't life grand??? all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal january 25, 2001 five months post-op and still feelin' fab! pre-op: 307 lbs/bmi 45 now: 241 lbs/bmi
